Re: Crankshaft Seal

Don't know about a bike but I know in cars they may run for a considerable time dripping a little, and even pouring.People run them like that all the time because it is a major repair in a car. One day they will eventually fail, When it fails you will loose oil preasure and that is a bad thing. If y...

Re: white smoke from pipes

does it run hot when your are running it hard. I am not sure about a bike but white smoke from the exhaust in a car is usually a head gasket or coolant getting into a cylender. It is possile that once the engine warms up it is sealing it's self off.

Re: Learning things that make me feel stupid

I am with everyone elso here. I know a bit about most stuff but am by no means an expert on anything. If your stumped just ask and some one with experience in the area will jump in. The only stupid questions are the ones left unasked

Re: Cyl 2-4 not firing

Try taking all the plugs out and laying them on the head, and cranking it over. Hopefully you have spark on all 4. If no fire on the poor side then it looks like more than a plug issue. I have seen plugs which would not fire under compression, but It looks like you have swapped the plugs side to sid...

Re: Toy Haulers

Another consideration is your class of drivers license. Here in Manitoba the size of the trailer can dictate the size of the trailer you are allowed to pull. Here in Manitoba a regular class 5 license authorizes you to drive cars pickups and 2 axle trucks. You can pull trailers on a class 5 license ...

Re: heated seat

Sorry Bert I can't help you, I have heard that there are some times intermitent issues with the heated seats,(cutting out and then not working until you do a restart) My 06 has issues and the dealers spent about 2 a days fixing it before they would let me have the bike. Keep us in the loop with what...

Re: Toy Haulers

5000 lbs isn't much....I have an 05 duramax and i pull a 5th wheel trailer (wish it was a toy hauler) and it groses over 11000 lbs fully loaded, and the truck doesn't even know there is anything behind it. I would check further either in the manual or with a dealer. I would think the 5000 lbs is the...

Don't know it I could get my wife into that thing. I would get one of those Can Am two wheels in front and one in back before I would go to a trike or side care.

Re: I cannot get the starter back in on the cog.

It has to go in but don't force it otherwise the housing will break. Try twisting thed starter motor a bit. It is probobly just not guite lined up. Just don't force it.

Re: won't start, what next?

Sounds like the brushes have packed it in on the starter. If the windings in the starter are Ok you should be able to rebuild the starter. I am sure someone will chime in on this but if it was a car starter it could be rebuilt, in many cases cheaper and faster than buying a new starter.

Re: Running good one second, not the next

I had the same problem with another bike. It would run then not run. I checked in the tank and there was all kinds of krud/rust, and a couple of dead moths. Took the tank off and cleaned it out. I haven't got back to see if that was the problem but the bottom of the tank was full of junk. Might be w...

Re: newbie *non-mechanically inclined ?

I haven't done it but am considering making up a gaget I saw on a Venture site for carbs. It is just two glass bottles 1/2 full of lite oil with a hose from each bottle in to tthe oils so the levels will equalize. Then two longer hoses to the vacume ports. The carb which is sucking more will move mo...
