Re: REVPACK Tourpack

Need to repurchase my excursion bag, last had it in the 1990's, misplaced and never found. They wear like iron as you said, and that waterproof cover is invaluable to keeping things dry. The excursion bag fit perfectly over the back seat with the dog legs hanging down right on top of the side bags p...

1983 GL1100 Turbo Modded bike/Youtube link

For fun, this is just what a heavily modded wing can do. Would be nice if it could be a neater more OEM kind of thing, but hey it's a modded bike.

Enjoy!

Re: Fall update

Can we have a youtube link to what the bike sounds like, would be nice to hear idle and a drive by at speed.

How's the bike at speed with the baffles out?; Can you hear the radio still and does it drone?

Best,

Scott

Re: The 2017 Goldwing is Out!

A 17 year run from 2001, longer than the 1500......Perhaps 2018 is the year for change, hopefully it won't be catastrophic change to the character of what a goldwing has been for the last 40 years of it's life. When the change does come it had better be similar to the BMW K1600GTL in terms of a luxu...

Re: Procedure for pulling motor and transmission request

I'm going to do this project over winter. Need time and a good space to relax while I do this project, so I am preparing now. I have a motorcycle jack from harbor freight already. Just need to stockpile parts and secure a motor and transmission combo with a proven transmission. Never rebuilt a trans...

Re: Procedure for pulling motor and transmission request

Stuart, Nice work with the photos. Good to see you have the courage to pull that motor as you did. Inspiring!!! Chain hoist is good, Once I get a garage that will determine what method I pick. God knows you saved money with your method, which I love to do. I don't mind investing in tools either, so ...

Re: Seal Mate fork seal cleaning tool for removing dirt from fork seals

After doing a full fork seal replacement I just want to be finished with it, and having a leak on one fork is knawing at me, so I pray this seal mate fixes the problem.....otherwise it's back to yanking the right fork out of the triple tree and replace and rebuild yet again. Glad to hear that it's w...

Seal Mate fork seal cleaning tool for removing dirt from fork seals

Well, just did my fork seals and got a leak on one side, so before tearing down the front end of the bike again to do the seal on one side I figure this tool is the last ditch effort. Seems like it works for a lot of people, my feeling is that for $5.00 how could I not give this a try. It's more tha...

Re: Procedure for pulling motor and transmission request

Thank you for the advice and the link. Will have garage in 3 months, not sure about the spec with regard to putting a chain hoist over a rafter, but I really like that sub $500 hydraulic jack/bench that harbor freight offers. Engine stand that I can tear down the motor on is the next thing to work o...

Procedure for pulling motor and transmission request

I would like to purchase a used motor and transmission, preferably from a 1983 goldwing, and rebuild both on the bench, replace water pump, timing belts, all seals, potentially put performance exhaust on(like stock, but a few more horsepower wouldn't hurt), open up transmission check shifting forks ...

PB Blaster.....keep on spraying, and spraying and spraying. You need the proper snap ring tool to get those clips out of there. I just took my tubes out and brought them to honda dealer and they undid the clips for me for $15 each side. Here are some helpful links to the tool and a thread about how ...

Floating Gears...Do you know how?

Just got my CDL-A, and I have come to understand quickly that floating gears will save the left leg some wear and tear. Has anyone ever floated gears on their goldwing or any other bike for that matter? I'm learning on the truck, and don't feel like munching up my goldwing transmission. Just interes...

Re: Fork Seals

Put the bike on the center stand, stack chopped 12-16 inch sections of 2x8's underneath the motor and drive some wood shims in to tighten up the base of wood. Drop the front wheel, take off the fender, fork brace, calipers, and then drop the fork tubes from the triple tree. Take a 2-3ft section of 1...
