Mosquito's and LYME'S disease
Thought I would put a quick mention here about Lyme's. I thought I had heat stroke after taking the Wing out on July 14th. I was SO sick, and thought I would tough it out. About July 24th, I had someone run me to the ER. I did not know at the time they tested for Lymes. I was sent home with pretty m...

Re: Heat Stroke vs Lyme's disease
This was a line from the last Falling Skies TV series last Sunday, which I never watch. "The woods are full of mosquitos and ticks. Do you have any idea what Lyme's disease does to you?" How exactly does that fit in an alien invasion movie? A friend was watching and heard Lyme's mentioned. I watched...

Re: Heat Stroke vs Lyme's disease
LDRD is a web site designed to help educate people about Lyme disease. NEW developments in the quest to understand and defeat Lyme are continually replacing old news and ATTITUDES. Lyme disease symptoms mimic those of hundreds of other disorders, therefore Lyme is known in the medical profession as ...

Re: Perfect Accessory for Geriatric Cyclists
I wasted a couple of years with the tire tubes, the walmart comfy cushion (which was not bad), the roid seat cushion, and finally decided we had so much money in the Gold Wing, it was time to try the money back guaranteed Air Hawk R. Never looked back! I wonder how I managed to ride all these years ...

Heat Stroke vs Lyme's disease
Going back to July 14th, temps in the mid 80's. We took a 2 hr ride in the morning mostly all interstate roads. Keeping up with traffic, 75+ was the norm. Wearing full safety gear, I had never had an issue in heat and did not expect this to be any different. We got home before noon, took an unusual ...

Re: Brakes and heater warranty service questions.
Just informed by dealer the bike is finished with repairs. It has just under 24k miles on it. The seat was replaced, this being the sixth Gold Wing I have heard of needing the seat replaced due to both grip and seat heater not working. The OEM pads were replaced with another set. Time will tell if t...

Re: Brakes and heater warranty service questions.
As per not worrying about the heaters, we only have two weeks left of warranty. I am told it could be as much as $450, if it needs say a new seat, which they have been known for on this issue. At about 10k, the passenger heater control was toast, and, we don't even use the bike much.... That warrant...

Brakes and heater warranty service questions.
We have an 06 with 23k miles. The brakes did not squeak for at least 17k miles. New pads were installed at 20K. The brakes have been squeaking all the time since. It is very annoying at slow speed stopping. After my comments about it to the dealer, they told me they just do that. I don't think so. I...

Re: Heated seats/grips update, still baffling
I greatly appreciate all that info. Our 06 just started having intermittent power to the grips and seat. Only 23k on the bike which is not used much. I just called Honda and found out the warranty expires first week of August. Yikes, I was going to put this off until Oct. Looks like it could have be...

Re: Gas milage
We get 41 mpg NE PA. That is two up, PA hills and hwy crusing up to about 70.
I was getting 37 and found out the computer chip for the fuel metering was bad. Covered under warranty.
Reason I had it checked, the lights would dim when I pulled the clutch in.

Re: Lube the vent lever!
I will get some silicone this week.
Yep, I knew about all the way up/down. Been using it regularly since I had the wing.
It went up today, but did not want to go back down.
Thanks!

Lube the vent lever!
I just had the bike out last week, first for the season. I soon realized I could not open the vent, and it was either broken or just plain stuck. It moved freely by moving the vent itself, but the lever would not move. Never had any issues with it before. I called Don at F4 customs just to make sure...

Re: Seat & grip heaters work intermittently?
WOW! I envy you. I sold my primary driver - 97 conversion van last Fall, and barely drove 2k miles/yr with that. We have a mere 23k on this 06. I did have to replace the alternator at 10k, was pulled again last year just to check. The tranny was rebuilt in 2010 I believe. Had the Traxxion suspension...

Re: Seat & grip heaters work intermittently?
Thanks for all that info. Both heaters were on. Sounds like it is going to go in the shop. I have never taken any parts off the bike, but it has had extensive repairs done the past two years. The tranny was rebuilt, so basically everything was dismantled, and the fuel mapping chip was later replaced...

Seat & grip heaters work intermittently?
I rode for a couple hours the other day. I had both grip and seat heaters on for the first 25 min, pulled in at gas station and put side stand down, in gear, did not turn the key off. After I restarted, there was no heat on either for the rest of the ride to my destination, which was about half an h...

Re: G-max 3/4 helmet
User update: I had my original replaced under warranty due to a lot of noise with the liner making creaking noises after installing a Card com system. Had the same problem with the second helmet. I didn't use it at all without the Cardo, so not sure if it would have been an issue anyway. Still, prob...

Regarding the ad for the Olympia Nova vest on this page, I just ordered that from Revzilla.com. Found I had a $13 credit on my account from a couple of years ago. Best price I could find anywhere. Great company to deal with as well. The sunshade was fantastic today. I sweltering 90+ degrees with ple...

Re: weight is hard to get used to
Ever consider going to a scooter? I thought I would never be interested in one of those, until..... my SO became interested and bought a 250cc Helix. What a blast that is to drive! At 375 lbs or so, you can pick that up off its side with one hand with its low center of gravity. Very nimble, had no p...

G-max 3/4 helmet
This is my first 3/4 helmet. I bought a white helmet with black accents. It looks a lot nicer than it did in the catalog when I ordered it. It also feels a lot better than either Nolan I own. My SO bought the G-max 1/2 helmet which also looks much nicer than the pic from the catalog. Both were aroun...

Air Hawk R seat cushion
I have about 5 tanks of gas on the cushion, and it gets my vote. I had been using the Walmart seat with a Roid air bladder inside. That was great for $30. The fact I am in so much pain before I even start riding, I need all the help I can get to ride as long as possible. The weather is much too nice...

Re: Super mount for camera/cam cord on Amazon
Update: About 1800+ miles later, the camera fell off this evening. It didn't look right the last couple of trips and I did attempt to straighten it out about half an hour before it came off. The tether worked great. Once it fell, it landed on the GPS sunshade and never moved. I may have to use some ...
