Re: Those who ride, understand

Hawk, I agree with what you think. You put it nicely. But there are times when I am in a little bit of a hurry and I am putting this on then that on and after awhile I start thinking, if I have to wear all this protection because of cage drivers, it's like I'm being punished for what they do. I can'...

Re: Those who ride, understand

I am very sorry to hear that, Phil. No time of the year is a good time to loose someone close to you, but Christmas or near it is worse. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You can always train your wife to ride the trike and you on the HD , or trade it in on another trike so both of you can trike...

Re: Old Man Winter

Wing, you beat me to it, I was going to post the same thing. All day yesterday we had wind chills between-25 and-35 and you had to work with the wind while you were running the snowblower. But mine has a canopy over which works great when you are facing the wind, but acts like a parachute when you a...

Re: Those who ride, understand

I know a few riders that have dropped their bikes, usually in an unusual turn and riding two up. They have gotten to the point that they can't handle the bike safely. But when asked if they ever thought about switching to a trike, they become upset and belligerent. But if they would just try it out,...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

Just for info : http://blm.io/blog/motorcycle-helmet-safety-price/ This was very interesting. I figured my helmet would rate higher in the safety category but it's not at the bottom so that is good. Cost was not a factor in my purchase, this was the best helmet available at the time so it got the n...

Re: Another Wreck!

Wow, can you imagine how your head would look if you hadn't had that helmet on? Mine is being used for EMT training , which I think is pretty cool. They use it not only to show how the helmet protects the head, but how it can create a neck injury. They also train on how to properly remove a helmet a...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

I thought about seeing if I could find one of those cervical collars to wear in cooler weather for just that reason, but I don't think I could stand it in warm weather... What brand helmet do you wear? Thanks for sharing. I now use a Scorpion EXO which has the pump on the neck to adjust, it has adj...

Re: Old Man Winter

Well Moneypit, the snow you have been getting sooner or later you will have to shovel it. The cold we have been getting, and will continue all of this week, we just have to wait for it to play truck driver, and move on down the road. No shoveling involved. I sure hope you are up to the exercise, 3 i...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

Hawk, in trying to answer your question, I have seen different reports about the base of the helmet, especially in a whiplash action, hitting the c/5 c/6 area of the spine. Of course this depends on the helmet, and that is exactly what happened to me. I had to have a spinal fusion and rods and screw...

Woke up to -13 temperature , wind speed 5.5 mph ,-17.8 degrees. Gusting to 9.3mph , with the coldest being-37.8 degrees. It's too darn cold to go swimming! Or much of anything else outside.

I like it, except I noticed that the tach wasn't working. My first bike was a chopped 750 with pipes just like those. With flames 6 inches long, be careful where it's going.

Re: The Invisible Motorcycle

I agree, lane splitting is nuts. In Michigan, as far as I know, it's illegal. The part I'm from, you couldn't do it if you wanted to, all 2 lanes here. But I have traveled down state and gotten behind a lane hog going slow in the fast lane. I waited for a while for him to move over to the slow lane,...

Re: Check out this video of sleeping beauty.

When you first fired it up I thought why does that sound like that? When you took the camera around to show the engine then I saw the pipes and understand. It's nice and clean, and the sound ( from what I can tell ) isn't all that bad but could use some mellowed muffler if I had to run behind you. G...

I believe Denmark and Beloit are not that far apart. I go through there quite often, so maybe he has a friend at the latest address. And the plot thickens! And as in the EMS world, we tell everyone, we can't fix stupid! And I hate stupid people! Too bad more couldn't be done to reach out and touch t...

Re: Ticking noise on brake

My first thought is somehow the slots on the rotor have a ridge and need to be worn in. Another thought, the used rotor, possibly has a slight warp. The only way you could see that would be with brake gauges. If there is more than 3 thousandth warp it will make the disc brake caliper shake when you ...
