MPhillips, Welcome aboard! The dates and location in Chillicothe, Ohio have been decided! I certainly understand about the back! Have you considered coming in the car? Are splitting the trip into a couple days each way? Perhaps next year we can look at a get together in Canaan Valley, WV. It is a be...

Re: Traded up

Don't worry about the buttons. They are only there for the frills. Throttle, clutch, brakes, shifter all the same as any other bike and that's what makes it go. Well said Raven! And the owners manual describes how to use the buttons and audio system. You can also find the local chapter of GWRRA and...

Re: ran out of gas

You don't mention which one of your bikes has the problem. It is much easier to troubleshoot when the folks know what bike they are talking about. Have you drained the tank to insure there is no foreign substance messing things up. Were the miles travelled on the tank that ran out about normal? My f...

Re: DHS Steering stem bearing tools GL1800 all years

Although I am not a professional wrench or even a good back yard mechanic, I have accumulated a few hand tools over the years. Experience has taught me that even specialty tools are worth hanging on to as you never know when you might need them in the future. I would suggest that you work with the s...

Re: Opportunity knocking or should I bolt the door?

If you really want this bike after watching it catch on fire, I would urge you to think twice and realize you can get a lot of motorcycles for $3000. I think I would offer him somewhere between $1500 and 2000. just to take the bike off his hands. You might be right in fixing the carbs you will solve...

Re: Vegas trip

AssnBrad, Congratulations on planning a great trip! You might want to check with the motel in Vegas and see if they will let you store the truck and trailer on their lot. Some will do this if you talk nice! This probably is not as secure as paying for a storage area in the park mentioned above. I se...

Re: How to buy used bike from owner. [NC]

Most sellers would be happy to meet you, take the cash, and give you the bike. The biggest problem I see with riding it home is you needing to get state tags or a temp tag to be legal riding home. Of course you would also want to have insurance. You will probably need the insurance to get the tags. ...

I realize that Greg specializes in the GL1800 but he might make a exception or at least offer an alternative to work on your bikes. Website is: justwings.com
and you can call at: 813) 416-8600

He has never done any work for me as he is way down there in Florida.

Once you have a good idea of the length involved, you might try Motion Pro and see what they have to fit! They will probably need an actual measurement not just your concept to give you good advice on what to get!

I would check with Hagarty.com which specializes in the insurance of antique vehicles. And I would do a search(google) for other companies that sell specialty insurance for antique motorcycles. Naturally the level of coverage will effect the price--are you looking for liability or comprehensive/col...

According to its website the Christopher Inn does offer breakfast, sausage and gravy biscuits, scrambled eggs, and either pancakes or waffles as I recall. Nothing unique, reminds me of holiday Inn Express breakfast.

As you note good restaurants are a short ride away.

Re: GL1800 trys to stall

I think I would contact another dealer and see if they are willing to troubleshoot the problem. Several things come to mind, bad 02sensor, perhaps there is dirt in the injectors, maybe something in the ECM is acting up. Why did the previous owner sell the bike? Is there a bad electrical connection, ...

First you can get the actual Honda service manual at this site: http://www.helminc.com/helm/Result.asp?Style=helm&Mfg=AHC&Make=AHC&Model=GL02&Year=&Category=1&Keyword=&Module=&selected%5Fmedia= no it is not cheap but will pay for itself with a few repairs. Second, have you looked up the parts on an ...

Re: educate me on fork oil viscosity please

I finally have my 1985 gl1200 LTD sorted out. I have new swing arm bearings new tires and wheel bearings, steering head repacked with grease and adjusted. Have new progressive springs in front and progressive shocks (air) in the back. The ride up front is a bit bouncy I guess is the best way to des...

Re: Pulling a Trailer

My first thought Is your Voyage kit designed for a GL1500 or a GL1800? Does the manufacturer approve? I totally agree with the comment about a full on trike being better than than something with a kit added! But depending on your fabrication and mechanical skills you may be able to make it work great.

He reminds me of most motor officers and could probably keep up with them on their courses. Of courses you can watch the TOP Gun competition at the GWRRA and see folks with similar skills only they are on Gold Wings.

Maybe he knew you would not have it done there and was just trying to give you an answer so you would not bring the bike in for service! Perhaps you should have been talking to the service manage instead of the parts dude. Doesn't the shop post the per hour labor rate near the service desk?

Re: Oil change

You can try a heavier oil but that won't tell you what is making the noise or fix it. Over time the heavier oil might do more harm! What does the owners manual recommend for engine oil? That should give you the correct weight and lay out the specs that the oil must meet. Again , the question is what...

Have you contacted the trike company that manufactured the unit installed on your Wing? Honda did not do it. Somewhere you should find something that says it is a Champion, Hannigan, or whomever kit! If you can't find anything like that(perhaps trunk lid) then how about submitting some photos as I a...
