Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

That's sad, especially for the survivors. That is one of the reasons I always wear my helmet-the other is to protect against abrasions, should I have an off. At highway speeds it probably isn't going to help against impacts that much, but after seeing a guy with his ear, nose, and the side of his fa...

Re: Over heating

Do a system flush(pull your thermostsat) and make sure all of the hose clamps are tight when putting it back together. The clamps are a common cause of minor leakage that, left unchecked, lowers the level of the coolant. Properly "burp" the system and you should be good. If the problem then continue...

Re: filling holes in plastic

For a hole that small, just the ABS glue will work by itself, especially if you are going to cover with pinstipes or striping tape. No matter how small the shavings are made it will still be "lumpy'.

Also make sure the system is adequately filled. An air pocket can cause issues.

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

Like I mentioned, in my MANY years of eCommerce and online selling (it's actually what I do for a living), the ONLY time I have EVER seen PayPal rule in favor of the seller is when the buyer failed to actually return the item, and could not provide tracking information to back it up. You could buy ...

Re: Anyone been turned away from CycleMax?

I can see both sides, but regardless, Paypal ruled in favor of the buyer even with the Cyclemax pictures. Let Cyclemax sell it on craigslist or e-bay to recoup part of their investment. That being said, if you were dissatisfied with a seller, why in the world would you go back? There is no law that ...

That info will come in useful for me. Thanks for posting, but I'm not so sure I want anyone to know how fast I was going!

Re: Opinions On Shell T5

I've been using the Rotella T-6 in my 'Wing and my scooters for years. It's not that expensive, and from my personal-unscientific- research, I feel it's the best. For the less than $15 an oil +filter change(I do my own) I think it is cheap insurance. I usually change @ 5-6K miles, but have gone 10K ...

Re: tool kit

I've found the factory toolkit to be practically useless for anything but the most elementary fixes. I pack a small set of s.a.e. and metric sockets w/ratchet and extensions from Harbor Freight($4.95), a set of small size metric combination wrenches(no need for s.a.e.),a pair of channel locks, needl...

Re: Why use the radio speakers

I always use the bikes speakers. It doesn't matter if I wear an open face or full face helmet, I've never not been able to hear them. The few times I've tried riding with earbuds, I found them to be uncomfortable and one or the other would invariably 'pop' out.

Although I've ridden colder than I really should, now I won't ride if it's below 20*-25*.I can dress for those temps without too much trouble

Re: 2018 Cleveland Motorcycle Show Report - Pictures! Video!

I had previously read Freds report and felt it sounded as though it was written by the Honda advertising department. Please tell me how two people can fit everything needed for two weeks of traveling(even if it was only three days clothing for each) in that tiny trunk. Scott, that was a nice report ...

Re: Reviving an old Laptop

That's good to know. I'll be trying that to one of my old laptops (Win XP) for exactly that reason-traveling on the bike. It's tough as nails, but just outdated. I couldn't bring myself to toss it. Thanks :)

Re: satellite radio

One of the first things I did on all of my rides was install a 12V outlet. I also run a three outlet adapter into that, which is easily moved from bike to bike. I usually power my XM radio, mounted to the windshield with the rubber suction cup thingy, and have a tape deck adapter tape plugged into t...

Re: Why did he crash ?

Harvey- You don't want to spend the $$$ for the course if you don't like riding. How do you know, unless you try it first. I would imagine very few people say I'm going to spend $300 or more to take a motorcycle safety class, only to find out they can't balance it or aren't coordinated enough to clu...

WANTED:dustbin style fairing

I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for an old dustbin type race fairing for a project I'm putting together. It will have to be cut to fit, so I can't buy a new one. I know there are some of these that haven't seen the light of day in quite awhile, tucked away in corners or upstairs in garag...
