Re: Starter replacement

You need to be careful and make sure 5th he bike is on its side stand when you take the starter out. Otherwise the chain on the starter gear will fall back into the case. If that happens you probably would have to pull the engine to finish the job. Mostly just take your time and find the article on ...

Re: Starting over on my GL1100

O also am almost done with the side covers. Just have to shoot them with clear coat to protect the new paint and badge...

Re: Oil under left front carby

Is your oil breather hose hooked up to your airbox? If it is loose that may leave oil there. Just a guess.

Re: Starting over on my GL1100

Hi all. I got the carbs boiled out and clean
But the choke on the right side is still hanging up. It looks like the shafts from the carbs may be bent or out of place. Is there anyway to fix that issue?

Re: Starting over on my GL1100

Got the choke figured out. Turns out the choke was stuck and I was able to get it moving. I decided to just remove the carbs again and clean them again. I was surprised at all the junk in the carbs. A more extensive cleaning this time.

Starting over on my GL1100

Good evening fellow wingers! Well, I had my bike running then decided to pull the gas tank, change timing belts, and general maintenance. I just hope I can get it back together again! The tank was a **** to get out but I put it back tonight and it worked like a dream! Going to attach some pics of th...

Re: No fuel feed when trying to start

Hello all, Still cant get the choke to work. It seems like I cant pull the cable out far enough to open the butterfly valves or I should say to close them. The bike starts great if i dump gas in the plenum and it stays running. This choke has got me stumped.. it does run and runs well! Getting close...

Re: No fuel feed when trying to start

It looks like the choke cable is missing a part up by the pull end. Good news is I rode this bike for the first time today! From a goldwing in parts and not running to something i can drive now (after some more maintenance anyway). I dont want to sound egotistical but i am so darn proud of this acco...

Re: No fuel feed when trying to start

Thank you! I will get on that. I know when I pull out the choke it wont stay out and I watched the choke butterfly's and they do not close or move. I will check the cable and the friction adjustment. I really appreciate the help!!!

After checking further, it seems when I pull out the choke cable it does not close the butterfly's in the carb. Is the choke adjustible?

Re: No fuel feed when trying to start

I have owned the bike for about 2 months. It had the carbs off and they were partially disassembled. I got new carb lots and rebuilt the carbs after they were boiled out. It does pump fuel when running but not when I am turning over the engine. A weak fuel pump maybe? The bike has not been running f...

No fuel feed when trying to start

My gl1100 is being stubborn. I could crank on it all day and it wont start
If I dump fuel in the plenum it starts immediately. The choke is working but it is very stiff. Any ideas?!?!'

GL1100 found and I am having a blast with it!!

Hello all! I haven't been on this site since 2013. I had to sell my gl1000 then. Now, I just acquired a 1980 goldwing in pieces. Long story short I got it put back together and now it is running. Not the best but hey it runs!!! This will be my fourth wing and couldn't be happier. My main issue now i...
