Re: It's about time we had an article such as this

I get this kind of stuff all the time mostly from family members, very rarely from strangers. In 1985 my brother was killed when he wrecked a motorcycle, so I get things like, "don't your remember what happened to your brother and you ride a motorcycle." My reply normally is, "how could I forget and...

Re: LED Foglights

Thx a lot for answer. One more question. Which switches did you use ? Originally installed on bike's handlebar or some aditional mounted ? I used SPST switches, like the ones in this link: http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/swrkrincandlitrndspst10a.aspx Because my 2012 1800 is a level 1 I mounted the s...

The fog light I added to my bike were 30W LED @ 1000 lumen, these can not be used for daylight driving lights due to the brightness. They also have what is called "angel eyes", these I use for daylight driving. Could you please shortly describe way of connection of mentioned LED. Connected directly...

The first thing I'd start looking for is any add-on's, wiring that is coming off the accy terminal at the fuse block.

Re: decent motorcycle insurance prices

A person needs to be very careful when buying insurance policies for a motorcycle, cheaper is not always better. It is always better to purchase the insurance that will meet your needs just incase the worse happens. My bike is insured to the hilt as far a personal injury goes, plus I also have an um...

Re: replacing radio lights in an 1800

It's really not that hard to do, when you remove the 12 volt lamps you will see two pads to where the lamps made contact, one pad is positive and the other is ground. Most LED's are polarized, when you look at the leads one lead is longer than the other, the long lead is the positive lead, another w...

Re: replacing radio lights in an 1800

did you use 3mm or 5 mm? would you mind telling me which part # you used? The part number will depend on which color of led's you choose, on my Gl1800 I chose the amber led's. I ordered the 3mm, they will fit the holes for the lights snuggly. When you remove the 12 volt lamps you can install it led...

Re: replacing radio lights in an 1800

I placed the 12 volt lamps on my bike with LED's, it's not a difficult job to do. Just remember that you will need to add a resistor to each LED you use, the value will depend on the color of the LED you order. I order my LED's from Part Express, they ship the resistor with the LED's. Here's the lin...

Re: Power outage

I am going to assume you don't have a voltmeter installed on your 1800, with that said, start your bike and check the voltage, it should be greater than 13.2 volts. Check fuse 14 (10A) this is the ignition sense fuse, if this fuse is blown the regulator in the alternator will not turn on.

I just recently acquired this bike but previous owner said it had been this way for some time. I will check fuses tonight. Lcd lighta up which makes me think it has power? Just doesn't display anything. The back lighting for the LCD operates independent of the LCD, so you may have back lighting but...

The hearing range of a deer falls within the human hearing range, Deer .5Khz to 8KHz Human 20Hz to 20Khz. So trying to manufacture a device that will be heard by only deer is going to be difficult.

Re: LCD Display

Due to your bike not being in a temp stable environment this could cause condensation to build up, which will damage your LCD. It will cause intermittent operation of the LCD and delamination of the display.

Sorry to hear about your problem with your order. Mine came two in a box just like the picture shows, it would be very deceiving to show 2 to a box and then only send you one item.

I used lexan to cover my lens, so far no problem.

It looks like RockAuto is a sponsor on this forum, I'm sure most of you do your own vehicle maintenance, not just on bikes. I'm sure they appreciate the flippit remarks posted. I for one use RockAuto for parts on my vehicle, they offer the same OEM parts for about 1/3rd the price.

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

I bought my first Gold Wing in 1981, loved the bike. I loaned it to my brother for the summer 1985 he totaled the bike and himself, so I kind of gave up riding for many years. In 2002 I had a chance to buy a Yamaha Venture Royal, nice bike, but the wife was very comfortable on the back, we went to a...

Re: Walkie-Talkie on a Goldwing comm circuit

I was running condenser mics on my helmets until I bought my new bike and installed a GL2Way CB. The condenser mics were causing a squeal in the transmit, had to switch them out to dynamics. When I ran the condenser mics I built a resistor/capacitor circuit that plugged in between the wiring harness...
