Have you checked the main fuse? Also check your ground wires for good contact. check for burnt wiring around the top of the starter solenoid, and around the main fuse. if the fuse is the dog bone, remove it to check because visually checking it can look fine. check for continuity in the wiring betw...

check for burnt wiring around the starter solenoid, its under a rubber cover to the right of the battery, and the dog bone fuse in the same place, its pays to remove the dog bone fuse to check because it can look fine at a glance.

Re: Rough ride front end

What weight fork oil are you using? A few months ago I replaced fork seals and wipers, bushings etc. Progressive Springs installed. Recommended 15 Wt. oil installed. Rode really rough. Drained and refilled with 10 Wt. Night and day. Smooth and supple. A pleasure to ride even on the crumbling Califo...

Re: LED Lights Conversion

I have a 85' GL1200 I and have swapped just about everything out with LED equivalents except the running lights next to the headlight. I can't even find a replacement incandescent. Must be an obsolete bulb size. led equivalent for the position lights either side of the headlight is 1156 BA15S there...

Re: Rough ride front end

Have a pic of trac system ?? Think but not sure the trac system is on the bottom of each fork, it has a screw that can be turned and is numbered from 1 to 4 the screw has a dot on it, and this should be lined up with a number being the same on both forks, 1 being the softest and allowing more fork ...

trac system might need checking to see if they are the same on both forks, when replacing oil did you turn the trac system to ensure the oil got down into the channels?

Re: clutch not releasing

with the brakes check the brake pads for wear, replace and then bleed the system, as long as the piston seals in are ok, and the pistons are moving ok then all should work fine. be sure to grease the pins holding the pads. this is a linked brake system, so its good to do all brake pads at once, when...

I have seen Red's LED headlight ... very bright . If you check my comment in his post, fluted lenses ( Like on our 1200's ) will never really focus or project on high beam . For about the same $$$ and a lot more install fiddles, I put a HID on my 1200: You have to cut into the inner headlight fairi...

Re: led headlight bulb

I put a LED headlight (H4-HLV3-H) in last year and am quite happy with it. I still get flashed occasionally - but I think it is because of its whiter color. There is not alot of room in the headlight bucket for the ones with large heat sinks. unfortunately I no longer have pics of the mod. One thin...

Well, she'd back together- mostly. I just have to be gentle with the plastics, some are cracking pretty badly. I've got the right side plastics on all set, going to ignore the two faring mounts that normally sit below the radiator- lost that piece of the faring anyway. Trying to get the pieces of t...

led headlight bulb

Hi folks, I've always been a fan of leds and am thinking of replacing the OEM headlight bulb with an led. the thing is most of my riding is done doing the day, and I've found with other white light bulbs, (not led) although they are great at night, they tend to wash out a bit in bright sunlight. I wa...

I thank you for your input, I really appreciate It. Re: Poor Boy questions

Well, I think I'm actually beginning to regret doing the alternator conversion on this bike. I got the correct alternator for it, but the belt rubs right along the crash bar mount. And the fan housing. It also has almost no adjustability- I thought of doing it with an inch longer belt, but that's a...

Re: Voltage regulator issue?

Thanks!! Yeah, after doing a little research waiting for a reply, I learned the LTD/SEi have a higher output stator for the fuel injection, and a different voltage regulator. Sooo ... now to find an LTD/SEi voltage regulator. Do I go used OEM (there's a couple on eBay) or one of the aftermarkets? A...

Re: Voltage regulator issue?

Yes, continuity between a yellow wire and ground indicates a failed stator. The LTD's have a larger capacity stator than the Aspencades, to drive the fuel injection system. So you should be looking for a higher capacity stator...or perhaps an external alternator conversion, which would solve the pr...

Re: antifreeze leak

not quite sure what you mean by 'tubes' but if the antifreeze is on top of the motor it may be just a top hose leak, and may need replacing or the just the hose connectors tightening.

top hose can seen by removing the left hand lower fairing cover.

Re: Oil Leak on the right side

yep been there, it can be either the cam cover seal, or the dipstick seal, or the valve cover gasket, a dipstick leak can be a real bear to fix, the only way I got it in the end was to put a bolt and rubber seal in it place.
