Re: Introducing #8

The 15's were very expensive new and there are few of them. Have been sidetracked quite a bit lately doing gardening and other things that I don't really want to do so not much has been done on the Wing front. Lots of new parts on their way :D drained the unspeakable muck out of the forks, then both...

Re: Flushing brake lines ???

Yes, fitting new ones would be nice. so far I am down to the frame alone on the bench, and new parts awaiting to be fitted (some still in transit); steering head bearings fork bushings, seals and new brace wheel bearings front and back tyres front and back master and slave kits for brakes and clutch...

Re: Flushing brake lines ???

Thanks for the reply guys :D I now realise that I put this in the 1800 forum (took me a while to find it  ) but all bikes are pretty much the same when it comes to brakes. I have stripped her right down, bare frame sitting on bench waiting for me to clean and start the assembly process, all mas...

Flushing brake lines ???

G'day to Everyone :D I have stripped down my newly acquired 1990 SE for its real birthday. Lots of new stuff going in to bring her back to her near new glory. The ugly looking gunge that came out of the brake and clutch systems was horrible (the forks were jet black and very smelly). I was just wond...

WANTED!!! GL-1500 Kmh only Speedo.

G,day to All, :D

I am looking for a Kilometre an Hour only speedo. My new to me 1990 has a MpH and Kph speedo, I don't particularly like it, so if you have one to part with I will snap it up.

Re: Introducing #8

Many thanks, "WingAdmin" :D My mind is now at ease, it must have been the Valkyrie that has the different cams for the Californian machines? Now just a waiting game waiting for the postie to deliver all the goodies purchased through e-bay so I can continue the rebuild. Gives me plenty of time to cle...

Introducing #8

G'day to Everyone :D Well I just couldn't help myself, this one came up for $4900 (half normal price) so I snapped her up. ;) Ran like a pig on the way home, maybe one cylinder (thus the price), it was peak hour in the evening, I got lost on the way home and got every red light. Had to rev up to ove...

She is on the road (Finally!)

G'day Folks. :D Well my #2 project is finally on the road, there were many teething issues and still more to solve, but I have now done 190 Km on her. (Pics uploaded into my gallery) Just have to get the necessary permits from the Department of Transport for the modifications so insurance will be va...

Re: Gl1000 carburetor rebuild kits

G'day to All, I have used Randakk's kits in my 15 and are very happy with them, what's the point arguing over cents or even dollar$ when stranded on the side of the road when you use $#!t quality kits. I got caught real good (badly) with an aftermarket kit for a GL-1000, the springs for the mixture ...

Took me a while to find it, I was lucky that I kept the cardboard box it came in. I could not find one on e-Bay at the time and still cant now but if you Google the number up there are some in Europe, but make sure you are sitting down when they tell you the price (they aint cheap  ). Lowering your ride (for short legged people)

I nearly have my #1 & #2 projects complete and I have started on my #5 project. I am just building up a mock of what she will look like when finished so don't look at the cancerous rust, these are just junk parts for research and development. I have extended the forks by 2" and lowered the rear abou...

Re: Head and rear lights on/off switch...

G'day "bassibil" I also did not like the headlights on all the time, so I fitted a stock headlight switch (I think Germany and UK use them), then I had to modify the wiring, add another fuse and relay, I am sure I have the details somewhere, but it was not a five minute fix. I can dig up the part nu...

Re: 1500 lift points?

G'day!

I use the mounting points for the seat and around the steering neck using flexible slings. I have removed the self cancelling indicator unit on my machine, so you will crush yours, so I would wrap it under the top triple tree.

Hope this helps :D

G'day to Everyone! Many thanks for the great comments :D I have done over 10,000 Km since then and she is running just fine, no hesitation anywhere, just like a big 3 phase motor on tap. The only problem I have with her which is annoying is that between 62 and 65 Km/H she has a shimmy up the front e...

Re: Alternator To Starter Switch......almost?

G'day to All, I have a 75, 76 and 78. In the 75 & 76 that wire runs to the headlight switch and when you turn on the headlight a parallel switch completes the circuit so you have all 3 coils of the stator generating power. When the headlight is turned off that coil of the stator is turned off as you...

G'day "pricedjohn",

I have an 88 which I had to modify the wiring harness to suit my own needs.

the diodes you are after are wrapped up in the harness on the right side as in the pics below. Why hide them???

Best of luck, Peter.

OOps!........ sorry, I did not read the last chat properly with the next tag as a Fire Engine.

Will try and find one tomorrow, or easy still, set fire to my son-in-law's car and they are bound to turn up, probably the Environmentalist too as his heap of rust will stink real bad too
