Re: Exhaust Silencers

As I posted previously, the early black horseshoe ones are being re-manufactured by another company to very high standards, but a bit 'spendy'. Having said that, if my original '75 ones ever need replacing, I'll find the money. Maz I found a set for my 78 on the West Coast, California. They are lik...

My 77 stock muffler has had an occasional, intermittent rattle at certain rpms for decades. Hasn’t gotten any worse or affected anything. I don’t think you can beat the looks or sound of stock exhaust.
Right but try to find a set.

For some models, they don't exist new.

Re: GL 1000 1977 colour

Thanks for the answers! I haven't yet asked from the paintshop if they can make the paint by using these colour codes. I have an other qustion. What is the best way to make those thin lines to the "tank" and other parts? I have noticed that in the ebay they sell ready stickers, but price is well to...

Re: Dummy Tank Carrier/Bag Rack

I'm no Goldwing expert, I'm learning as I go with my '76 GL. While cleaning mine up (sitting since 1985), I removed the rack from the lid, and on closer inspection saw a sticker on the front right post. AMCO, West Hollywood, CA. I dug into the web and found the company AMCO made chrome racks for mo...

Re: Dummy Tank Carrier/Bag Rack

As can be seen from the picture of my bike (attached), it has a rack on the top of the dummy fuel tank. I have seen some GL1000 pictures with the same rack. My question is: Was this a GL1000 Honda approved accessory that was factory fitted or was it put on by an owner as an aftermarket item. I woul...

Re: Exhaust Silencers

I used Emgo reverse megaphones on my 79. No comparison to stick obviously, but still a very pleasing appearance, like they belonged on there. Slightly louder than stock, sounds it bit like an older sports car. $52 each, not a bad deal. Lots of peo-ple use HD mufflers. You can often get them for fre...

Re: Engine Strip and Rebuild

The engine (48000 original Miles) was a runner before I removed it from my bike, however, it did have a rattle at tick over. I am hoping that it will not require any new parts other than gaskets and seals. I am not sure, at this stage, exactly what the engine rebuilder will be checking when they pu...

Re: Engine Strip and Rebuild

I am considering having my engine professionally stripped, refurbished and rebuilt. Has anyone had this done and any advice would be welcome. Make sure they can actually get the parts. Some just don't exist anymore. And it won't be cheap. You should check with http://wingovations.com/ , one of the ...

I am missing the left side aftermarket saddle bag cover on a 1978 gl1000. I belive the brand is TAA. I'll include a photo. Anybody know where I can find one?
EBay is the best place to look for those but you have to know for certain who made it.

First off, some good news. I got my bike running for the first time since 2000 (at least that's when it was last registered, I got it about a year and a half ago.) I've replaced and fixed a lot of stuff. I'm super thankful for this community and all the help y'all have proved. Thank you!! So, my qu...

As I recall there is a three digit number right there on the helmet lock cylinder
Should be the same as ignition, obviously, one of them has been changed.

Also, there should only be the one, one was added?

I have purchased a 77 gl1000 came with extra parts. I have extra camshaft belts. What is the shelf life on these, if never installed and still in envelope they were shipped in?
For what a pair of belts cost, if you don't know, pitch them.

Belts are very cheap.

I'm new to the Goldwings. I see my temp going up in stop and go traffic, and come back to normal once in motion. I haven't seen it get dangerously hot yet. Well, the Hunley is still showing well, and I sold the CB750F yesterday for what I had invested in it (so that paid for my winter's entertainment). Warmed fuel built up some pressure in the fuel tank.

The gas cap is supposed to vent excess pressure or vacuum, it might have become clogged. Try soaking the fuel cap in Seafoam for 24 hrs.... Bet that fixes it.

I look at the whole braking system and I think that my 3 discs are dead (deformed and worn)
Where can I find original or adaptable for a Goldwing gl 1000?
Thanks for your help !
Used EBay.

New many places including http://wingovations.com/gl1000-new-parts/4579471065 and they are in Europe.
