Re: GL1800 trys to stall

I use Startron Starbrite. An ounce in every other tank. That said, its fuel injection so it should not have carburetor-like problems. I don't think that either Startron or Seafoam will correct your problem. They won't hurt, but you better concentrate on a vacuum leak. The PO sold it for a reason.

Re: Goldwing GL1800 Exhaust

Ditto. My 2016 did it for the first time a few days ago. I did not allow sufficient warm up time. It may be PFI, but it still needs to warm up!

I too start it then put on my gear and its ready to go.

Re: From GOLDWING to SHADOW

Don't feel slighted. It seems like we are about the same age and we should be used to disappointment by now. I went from an 1100 Shadow to a GL1500. I kept the shadow as I expected it would be difficult muscling that behemoth around town. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Two weeks lat...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

My first bile was a Honda Super 90 that was a hand-me-down in 1969. Next came a 305 Super Hawk (6mos old 300 miles). I procured a CL450 in the same time frame of owning the 305. I then had a fall on a grate steel bridge and destroyed my right elbow. Doc said I would never be able to move it again, b...

Re: Battery goes dead after a couple of days

I had left a battery tender sae/usb converter plugged into the tender cable. Just that little indicator light killed the battery flat in two days. Unplugged it and battery held a charge no problem. This leads me to think there is something in the system somewhere that is drawing power and killing yo...

Re: Satellite radio install

Consider where you will be riding. If you have a good cell signal in most of your riding area, consider adding internet access. I use my cell pone (iPhone6) with the Siriusxm app and have good (not great) reception for virtually all of my local riding area. I also have 18+ hours of music on the phon...

Re: Fuel mileage

My 1500 got 35-39 on my daily riding. It had gone as high as 52 during a low speed tour (150 miles, speeds 45-60 mph) down to 32 on an extended high speed (80+) interstate run. My 1800 has 2,000 miles on it now and the mileage is about the same under similar conditions. Throttle twisting is much mor...

Re: Fuel management

I can only speak to the K&N air filter. K&N makes great products. They increase air flow by making the space between the filter elements bigger, allowing more air and other debris to flow through it. When you consider the amount of extra maintenance they require to keep the internal engine component...

RIVCO Aero Flip-Out Highway Pegs

I found these on Cyclemax.

GL1800, F6B Aero Flip-Out Highway Pegs (RGL18003/P1624-0288)

Has anyone tried them? They seem to be what I am looking for, but I am wondering if being mounted on the valve covers, do they get hot?

Re: How do you brake your Wing?

From my Super 90 in '69 (305 Super Hawk, CL450,...Shadow ACE, GL1500SE) to my '16 1800, I have always used both brakes simultaneously. Best stopping power and maintains control in all conditions. I also combine slight compression braking to make sure I am in the proper gear should I need to accelera...

you can go through all that, but the 2016 has the connectors in the wiring harness under the left side pocket. Already connected to the switched and fused circuit. All you need do is use them. No removing Tupperware etc. The longest part was finding the correct diameter hole saw. No need to re-inven...

Go to cyclemax and buy the aux power and aux input kits. Next, go to youtube and search for adding aux power and aux input. Watch them. Install your new aux power and aux input and enjoy. If you have all the tools and hole drill required it will take less than a half hour. Basically, you take the le...

Re: waterless antifreeze

I am not fluent with Evans coolant, but I did google it to investigate it. It appears they have replaced the water content of typical antifreeze with propylene glycol, which makes it "antifreeze" by lowering the freezing temperature of the solution (water/propylene-glycol). It also raises the boilin...

Re: Regular or mid grade gas for 2006 GL1800?

My 2 cents worth... I have been a gas retailer for the last 11 years. I can say everything said previous is true. Higher octane fuel costs more and burns less. Why? Higher octane fuel (as mentioned above) actually delays combustion to prevent pre-igition (knock) as high compression engines continue ...
