Re: oil level

I just pour in the 5 quarts, seal it up, and go ride it for 5,000 miles. never a problem that way. but, my bike has never had a leak, nor has it ever used oil in between changes. and so far, it is only 114,000 miles young That's 4 quarts. uh, yeah.... was thinking of the Suburban.... solly there. i...

I chose clear because my Shoei helmet has a dark screen that drops down to help with sun glare... also, if I ever get caught having to drive after dark, I need all the visibilty I can get if looking thru it.... at full height, it is just above my eyeline about 2 inches. I have the Honda screen adjus...

Re: trip to Toluca, Mexico

Having a daughter who lives in Toluca, Mexico did NOT just occur by accident... there has got to be a story behind the story.... I looked that up on the maps..... she is not all that far from Memo aka William_86 on the forums, he is on the S.E. corner of Mexico City. https://www.facebook.com/memo.re...

Re: Battery type

I use a Battery Tender ( by brand name ) on my vehicle batteries if they are going to sit in the cold for a long time..... Goldwing and Lawn Tractor. also, my Suburban is mostly used to tow our Toy Hauler, and can sit for several weeks w/o being started. There is a small parasitic drain by the vehic...

GPS says "You need a break" huh??

Talk about new features on a GPS. I bought a new Garmin Nuvi for my daughter, I used our car for a long trip to Arkansas and back this weekend .... the trip is 5 hrs 30 minutes one way, and driving more or less non-stop, just a fast run to the necessary room once..... I was about 1 hour from home, s...

SPOT Customer Service

I think most everyone is aware of what SPOT is, a 911 transponder for Emergency Services... it also offers Tracking Service if you subscribe for that feature. My Android app quit working: SPOT app on Android. Mine has worked great for years, now it won't log in? The app has an icon requesting that y...

Re: MadStad on a GL1500

I'm 5' 11" or used to be in my youth  at 275# and I think I chose the 14" screen, not the tallest one. I just used the chart that they supply and went with that. I won't be home until tonight, over in Arkansas right now. Will get a pix and measurements when I get home. when it is down, I have a...

Re: Storage Temperatures

I worked in Phoenix, AZ and that is the airport where they told me that 127°F was the limit, the runway has highways on both ends of it, and going east, the terrain goes uphill faster then the commercial boys can climb in high temps. One of those big lumber busses has jet assist takeoff IIRC. I rode...

Re: Upgrading the front forks. What springs to use?

Racetech and Traxxion offer springs in multiple weight ratings options, based rider weight on the calculator, on their web sites, as opposed to Progressive monotubes or their springs, having only 1 spring rate that's 'suppossed' to handle any size. Looking at Racetech calculator for 320 # rider, st...

Re: the new SPOT X satellite transponder

I always take tools, a tow chain, an extra tire (besides the spare), and a hydraulic jack (easy to punch a tire on a sharp rock). And if I'm going down less traveled roads I make a judgement call whether or not to proceed alone, there's been more than once I turned around (road getting too "gnarly"...

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I'm using the Counteract beads.I was thinking. Dawn soap to clean. then talc powder. They aren't low profile 225/60/R16 goodyear viva-3. I just felt them inside again. Not sticky. Just a slight slick/oil feel. I went to the Counteract site. They have all the pics for auto and bike tires by size. I ...

Re: the new SPOT X satellite transponder

I have had a Gen 1 for many years, then a friend gave me his 'old' Gen II, and that has been with me for almost 5 or 6 years now... the 911 button is just about impossible to activate w/o doing it on purpose. you have to pull the cover, and hold it down for 3 or 4 seconds until it starts flashing......

Re: 1800 Ride Quality: seats and suspension

I bought a 2002 bike with a hard Corbin seat on it.... detested that thing. a friend had a 2010 seat with only 85 miles on it... yes, 85 miles. He had the bike triked immediately so the seat had to come off to make his wife happy. we traded straight across, he got the higher valued Corbin seat to se...

the new SPOT X satellite transponder

https://www.findmespot.com/spotx/lander.php When Garmin came out with their satellite transponder with the ability to send/receive text messages to home, that left the likes of my old SPOT Gen II in the dust.... mine still works just fine, just does not have 2 way capability. Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I just have one last question. I am doing my bike tires and 4 new car tires. The Brand new car tires are kind of sticky inside. Should I clean that out before the beads? Maybe with Dawn dishwasher soap? Look at the Chart supplied by Dyna Beads. they tell you that the newer Low Profile car tries can...

I seriously doubt there is any significant difference for the 2004 model year, and I bought a 2004 ECM and put it in my 2002 bike, and it solved the problem. It runs perfectly. Awesome, I am coming off of a Triumph Sprint ST. She loved 120 and north, riding that fast I always had my landing lights on.
I will not be going any where that fast on the Goldwing.
in most of our land, speeds north of 120 will get some attention you might not want :D :o

I have the Original Valentine One radar detector that kept me out of severe troubles back when I was running 500 miles per day on a company job, thru the wide open spaces of New Mexico..... it would pick up the "good guy" over 2 or 4 hilltops long before he could see me. Re: Interesting restart issue

By the way, anytime my bike sits for an hour or more, I need to give it a touch of "choke" or else I have to crank it for a bit. As others have said, twisting the throttle a bit before cranking helps, too. Although I haven't had my carbs off or apart, I expect they have accelerator pumps, so that l...
