I thought he did a damn good job of explaining the negatives...

Re: safe to boil float valve needle ?

i was thinking of using white vinegar, but it's good to know that they can handle boiling water. thanks. that is always safe, and being acidic, will do a better job that just water. IF, you have access to an UltraSonic cleaner, put the vinegar in the pan, and leave the parts in that for a good long...

Re: 2008 GPS Update Questions

somewhere, I read about someone who just applied the map updates from a Garmin GPS to the card for the bike, how he got it to work, I can't recall. he gave some in depth instructions, but I can't find that thread now. maybe this is it? did a google search https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldw...

Re: Puncture sealant in trailer tires?

I just call 1-800-Good-Sam and they change it for me  never, ever, had a m/c trailer tire need to be changed after I installed the new custom made axle for my HF trailer frame. the OEM axle had been cut/welded by a farmer and that axle wore the center tread off both tires.. in just one trip. so...

Re: Cupping

no, from my experience had no effect at all.

I suggest that your rear tire did not have enough air pressure. I run 44 psi in m/c tires, and I also use beads.... Dyna Beads in my case to make sure it stays balanced thru it tread life.

Re: Synthetic Oil for the 2018 DCT

no problem at all,
as long as you change oils regularly, it really don't make any difference, what brand you pick.

I am using Rotella T6 in 5w40 for my 1800, and in taste tests, it is "the best"

Great write up Scott, appreciate it. I have the Wheel Witness which also allows for changing the recording quality. Re: Question about legal windshields in Va

it is too bad that Madstad has dropped the 1500 from their line of really great windshields. I have one now on my 1800 and it is the best thing that I have done in the way of windshields. rode behind nearly all of the different makes, and Madstad, for me, is the best of them all. you can create your...

Re: Carburetor removal from bike

on the thermostat, I would just put the OEM stat in a pan of water, bring it to a boil.

if it opens it is good, put it back.
you might put it some vinegar overnight if it looks like a bit of oxidation on it?
in antifreeze? hope not.

Re: The idiots are out there

We pulled over, I got out of my truck. I look back at her car, it's in bad shape. The rad is steaming, the hood is crunched up, the bumper is history, one of the fenders is bent. Thousands of dollars of damage. I look at my truck. I can't detect any damage. I look closer. Still nothing. Finally, I ...

Re: How to wire the Cyclemax knockout CB panel?

have not done that,
but am pretty sure you will have to provide your own 12VDC power from the accessory terminal block under the seat.

I can't image the OEM CB power connector providing enough current to make a cig lighter work.

we can't make them wear a helmet, it is their choice, but it is one very stupid, inconsiderate choice. the rider's families are always the ones who suffer the most, lost family, lost income and status in life. and more. it just takes 1 second to change the course of a bike, and the direction the rid...

Here is where I mounted mine.Tail of the Dragon (4).jpg
that will give the same problem that I experienced with the mirror mount.
you can't see anything past the center of the bike to the opposite side.

solid as a rock though.

there is a lot to be said for the old, reliable plastic filter housings.

I don't like solid metal housings, can't see the interior filter element.

Re: Action Cameras

Back when I owned the '94SE prior to 2008, I used a RAM mount to secure my Sony DSLR on the right handgrip. that was a very solid mount, but even that had some vibration induced from the front wheel running over rough surfaces..... that DSLR was before "image stabilization" was available. circa 2002...
