Re: Best GPS Options

The lifetime map updates that they advertise actually mean "as long as they (the Supplier (Garmin for example)) want to support the item, and then it becomes more difficult. Just a heads up. Apparently they have not abandoned any of their stuff, I just updated the maps on a Garmin 650 and a 660 Whe...

Re: Craigslist woes !

the early frame issue has been gone so long, it is NOT an issue any more. my 2002 never had the problem. don't want to dampen your sale prospects, but I only paid $7,000 for a fully tricked out 2002 almost 3 years ago from a dealership. prices are severely depressed these days.... we know what we th...

My old Craigslist ad still posts without a problem. I see many adds that are being re-posted. I did get it to stay posted awhile bck for almost a week and then it was flagged and removed and I have not been able to post it since. I think tomorrow I will try posting with my girl friends yahoo addres...

have owned two 1200s, never worked on them, they both ran perfect from purchase to sale. have owned two 1500s, a '94SE that was full of sludge in the carbs, but Sea Foam over many tanks of gas solved that. a '98SE that ran almost perfect, but the Florida owner left it every summer to sit in the heat...

Re: Best GPS Options

over many years of using a GPS, I have found that the internal routing Algorithms are a Piece of Crap, IMO. what I do is to use Google Maps to view the route, set up via points as individual stops. Then when about ready to take off, I can do one of two things. 1) set up the whole route and select ea...

I have had the same CL account for 20+ years. on occasion, the software does not like something about a post and it disappears. if it disappears after it has been up for 15 minutes or more, it is a troll just watching and making like hard on folks by Marking them for removal. I have noticed that the...

Re: Polar Vest Phase Change Cooling Vest

Today, I violated my ATGATT rule. 91°F and 85% humidity.... my daughter has a new little Piaggio MP3 250cc scooter and needs to learn how to ride it. We have been going at one hour before dark and riding for one hour to get her used to two wheels again. She has never driven a motorcycle, only riding...

Re: Losing battery power

On my bikes and my lawn tractor, I have permanent pig tails wired direct to the battery. the minute I park the bike, or put the lawn tractor away, the Battery Tender is plugged in. That keeps them ready to go, no matter how long you have not used it. I also have a 1.25 amp Battery Tender Jr. on my R...

Re: Polar Vest Phase Change Cooling Vest

Sounds like the Polar Vest, and the Glacier Tek are very similar. I used the 59°F as a statement I read from the vendor. never thought about using my IR gun to measure the insert temperatures after use for 15 minutes. good idea, I will do that next time. I just like that I can put that vest on under...

Re: Proper tie down for a GL1500

I have an 1800, and that might work for you, but I won't do that. I pull the front wheel up into a wheel chock with the bike on the side stand. throw a double loop strap over the left lower triple tree. snug up a tie down strap so that the left fork just starts to compress. repeat on the right side ...

Re: Proper tie down for a GL1500

Here is what I was forced to do with the Piaggio scooter that I just purchased this weekend. Note that we used the Soft Double Loop straps around the hand grips, instead of a Lower Triple Tree ( which does not exist on this scooter ). That double loop strap, one end was run thru the opposite end and...

Re: Proper tie down for a GL1500

best to have a wheel chock that the tire rolls up, and over, then locks the tire in place. ( my trailer just has two vertical Angle Iron pieces that the tire is pulled into, nothing on the bottom, so I wrap a strap around the wheel 3 times and then snug it off against both outside edges of the trail...

Re: Higher Capacity Battery?

Make sure you have an AGM battery,

or, if this is something you do a lot, then spend the bux for a Lithium battery.

and put a toggle switch on the lights so they can be turned OFF, then all the battery needs to do is keep the ignition running.

Make sure the Brake Lights still work.

The Glacier Tek fluid maintains 59°F until the process runs out... https://www.glaciertek.com/high-visibility/ this is what I have, when I stop, I pull the vest off and dunk the vest with the inserts still in the pockets, in the ice water chest.... give it 20 minutes and the inserts are frozen solid...

Re: F6B Heal Toe Shifter

I bought a '98SE with floorboards and heel toe shifter on it. the very first time that I had to pull off the highway, about 50 miles after I bought it, the road base sloped downhill about 15 degrees from the pavement. I needed to put my right foot down "now" to keep the bike vertical. the floorboard...
