Re: Carter fuel pump problems

I had trouble with 2 of them, and it was the install that did them in.

in each case, the line out kinked in the bend.
I fixed that with a brass 90 degree nipple.
after that mod, no more trouble.

also, the screen is susceptible to damage, gotta watch that close.

on both of my 1500s, I carried 57 psi in the rear shock, all the time, and was always solo.
I weighed about #270 at the time.

Re: Action Cameras

I don't know that there is a "best place" I have tried the center of the windshield, down next to the dashmat. that is the "most stable" videos that I have gotten. tried the mirrors, horrible videos. tried the windshield at the edges, too much vibration. I hate helmet mounted videos. also tried a mo...

Re: Trailer Hitches

no idea what brand it is, six point, mounts to frame members. has a vertical square draw-bar type hitch adapter with a flat, horizontal plate sticking out the back for the ball. just pull the safety pin, and the hitch adapter falls out, and you can't see the vertical hitch. Downside is, it is in the...

Re: Changing sub filter

when I bought my '94SE about 2004, I checked that filter, and same as both of you, it crumbled when I touched it. and that was only 10 years old.

wonder if 115°F Arizona heat, and dry storage for 3 years helped it out that way?

Re: Gas Mileage Seems Low

I'll start to utilize your spreadsheet for both my bikes (2002 Honda Magna). Guess I will just have to give it some time and really get to know the bike. My biggest fear is running out of gas while out on a trip and being miles from the nearest station. hope the spreadsheet works out for you. I car...

I spent a good 20 minutes on google last night and found very little.
This is the best lead I found to get the BLACKWING fork brace: https://ranchocucamonga.americanlisted. ... 05549.html

I added that link to my Bookmarks, it sounds like the one that was on my '98SE

Re: Swivel trailer hitch.

I use a standard 2" ball, and the same exact swivel coupler shown above. https://www.timeouttrailers.org/Swivelcoupler-p/swivel_coupler.htm I bought that one because it allowed me to unbolt the hitch, insert the swivel adapter, and bolt everything back together again and added almost 12" to the trai...

Re: Gas Mileage Seems Low

a single tank of gas is not an accurate basis for computer MPG. different gas pumps do not give equal volumes of gas for the same exact digital meter reading. also, it is impossible to get the tank full to the "same exact point" no matter how hard you try. MPG is effected by so many variables it is ...

Re: Goes forward when in reverse???

Some how the polarity to the starter motor is reversed only when in reverse mode ? That's all I can think of. I'd look at the reverse related circuitry for a reversal of battery powered polarity to the starter, causing the motor to run backward only in reverse. that is just about impossible. the fr...

pressure seems a bit high..
I disagree with that, when the tire pressure drops below 41 psi, the handling is a low worse.

Re: Puncture sealant in trailer tires?

I use ride on in all my tires on my motorcycles and trailers. I can attest to it's sealing abilities. It'a good product and it also balances your tires. Since I started using it years ago I have never had to balance a tire. I just got back from a month long 6,000 mile trip with my side car rig pull...

What irritates me, is when I see a rider wearing a helmet, but without the strap done up; would love to understand their motivation... Do they think it somehow looks cool? Do they think the helmet will simply not come off in a crash? I was taught to clip it up the moment you put it on your head, an...

I've been using Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover and a microfiber cloth on our cars lately - it does a great job of clearing up the haze on the headlight lenses.

I'm late to the thread, and at 75 not early in life either. I have a 16 year old GL1800 in the garage, and just 3 months ago, we bought a 2009 Piaggio MP3 250cc scooter to park right next to the bike. for just running around town, the littel scooter is more fun, and a heck of a lot easier to get out...
