Re: Poor Cold Start. Engine wont fire with starter engaged

...12 light wrap around light bar under the saddle bags, and an amber 3-light running light array on each front wheel cover. If each of those lamps pulled 5 watts, that's a total of 75 watts being wasted. A simple fix to that while maintaining all the lights that attracted you (or others) to the lo...

No way that I know of. That is one reason I do not have vented windshields on my bikes.

Re: Poor Cold Start. Engine wont fire with starter engaged

If the indicated voltage drops below 10 volts while attempting to start the engine, the battery is weak and most likely needs to be replaced. With a 10 volt indication while attempting to start the engine, and during warmer dryer days, the engine will probably start as soon as you release the start ...

Re: How to upgrade my headlight?

I wanted to get them in and functional today because I'm going on a trip tomorrow and since I started what I thought was going to take only 2 hours I had it apart and couldn't stop. You are pretty brave. I've found it to be a bad idea to make any serious modifications immediately before a trip. Eve...

Re: Rear Brake Pedal has no pressure

Has the brake fluid ever been replaced? If not, that may be all you need to do. Replace the fluid. The fluid should be replaced every two years. To replace the fluid, I do not mean to remove the fluid from the reservoirs and simply pour in new fluid. You would not believe how many people think that ...

If possible, as a test, connect the meter directly to the battery and run the bike again to see if the malfunction still occurs.

Re: Weird volt reading during choke use

Nice voltmeter installation, Stew. Hopefully the voltmeter is working properly and you will not have to tear the dash apart to troubleshoot the issue. Where is the source voltage coming from for the meter? If it is the accessory terminals, you probably should change it to the battery through a small...

Re: Weird volt reading during choke use

Stew, The voltmeter may be the issue. The next time you have it doing something weird like this voltage wise, take a known good Volt-Ohm-Meter (VOM) and put the probes on the negative and positive terminal of the battery and check the voltage there. If it is still going wonky on you, I'm at a loss a...

Re: alternator question

How low does the battery voltage decrease when you turn on the ignition without starting the engine? For the voltage to take such a large dip as 10 volts while running indicates that something is is sucking a LOT of juice, or as you are thinking, the alternator ceases to put out a charging voltage. ...

But, after seeing how this was handled, I'm going to be very, very careful of what I order in the future to make absolutely certain it is exactly what I want.
If everyone would do this, there would a lot less friction, no mater what or where you order your baubles from.

Re: GL 1500 Heated Seats

find some thin wire at radio-shack . the specification for the wire will say ohms / foot. This is a really BAD idea. The wire needed to make heated products needs to be a special type of wire, not off the shelf hook-up wire from Radio Shack. Never having attempted to make my own heated gear, I am n...

Re: LED Headlight replacement: all 4 now or just low beams?

Replacing the Hi Beam lamps easily, and comfortably necessitates the removal of the shelter. It is not really a hard job at all.

For those of you that like to do multiple tasks at the same time, and who doesn't, change the high beam lamps the next time an Air Filter change is required.

It's unfortunate that you feel you were wronged. Cyclemax is quite a reputable dealer. Off hand, I'd say that everyone here loves dealing with them. I have had many many dealings with them and appreciate them very much. If it was their decision to not do business with someone, I am 100% sure they ha...
