Re: The idiots are out there

It comes down to your attitude in riding. I do not trust anyone else on the road- not even my mother- especially my mother ;-)... expect the guy behind you to try and run you down, and everyone in front of you to try and make you hit them, and the people on either side to run you over. It 's called ...

Re: I don't know about Home Depot's methods

You can shop price OR you can shop for service- both isn't available anymore. I go to my local Ace Hardware store for everything=- only if they don't have or cant get it, will I go to Lowes or HD. I'd rather shop at a Mom and Pop grocery, but in the metroplex, they are now called convenience stores ...

Hawkeye--- those olden days, when the licenses were put on clay tablets were the reason for bungee cords- strap them to the seat- back in '69 the THP officer and I disagreed on where to ride on multilane roads- he said ALWAYS on the left of the lane- ALL lanes- so that's where I rode for the t...

Re: Noisy Speedo, HELP!

WD 40 is NOT... NOT a lubricant.
oil + WD 40= gunk.
grease + WD 40= thick gunk.
usually, graphite is the speedometer cable lubricant of choice.
Honda MAY have it's own preference, if so,,, use that.

safe answer- don't.. stay away from semi's, garbage trucks, concrete haulers, etc..if you cannot see their mirror-they cant see you. lay back or pass them quickly. If you get caught in a 'convoy' of trucks, get away from them-even if it means getting off the highway for a few minutes or changing rou...

Maintenence records! GW are smooth, quiet if you want that. Make great trikes. I like no oil on the ground, gas tank UNDER the seat for lower CG- and 100-300k miles !

Re: Goldwing Trike info

If you Trike your VTX CHECK out Roadsmith. They ADD 8-12 inches wheelbase for smoother ride for you AND especially the passenger. If you are a tall man that will let you get a seat that gives you better leg room. Get the extra gas tank option at the start NOT Add on.saves $$. :D Roadsmith is an IRS ...

Roadw2. I did read the string. It is very encouraging to see folks like you snd the GW docs family jump in IMMEDIATELY to help a disabled vet. I am partial to our Military vets. I served back in the 60's and 70's and early 80's. Your 'service' to a vet is remarkable. Sadly, not many people put actio...

Re: Yesterday while getting gas......a

GW-"other"-vs Harley? Harley- great bike- heavy, overpriced, top heavy, rough riding, noisy, expensive to maintain, ANYTHING with H-D on it costs 2x-3x as much. Friends ride them. Most aren't snobs- those that are-I ask what they do for their Harley at 40-50k miles- usually they say "overhaul the to...

Maintenance records are king. no records-assume nothing was done properly and price accordingly. Especially the timing belts. maybe they were changed regularly-maybe the oil was changed regularly? was the brake/clutch fluid changed and flushed? axles lubed? bearings checked? Some things you can look...

Re: motorcycle windshield wiper

The old windshields couldn't handle a wiper- scratches too easy. Make sure YOUR windshield is squeaky clean before you turn them on or you will just scrape a big arc onto the 'glass. There are sprays that make the water bead up and blow off- and us old school guys always looked OVER the top anyway.

Re: Ever thought about why older wings are for sale

Us old guys buy GW's, ride them until we die, or can't ride anymore and then we or the widow sells them to a dealer- read the screed about the 40th anniversary GW not having any 'technology' improvements or style- I guess he wanted fins and electronic paint... some folks gotta have the newest, lates...
