Re: Now that it's running... surge problems

I've read those articles as well. Going to do some more diagnostics tomorrow to try to narrow down the issue.

Now that it's running... surge problems

Good morning all, Yesterday I had some success in that I finally got my '92 1500 up and running after a 6 year slumber. A good carb cleaning, fresh rubber parts in them and 2 new slow jets as the old ones crumbled when I put a screwdriver to them. After reinstallation the bike fired right up with th...

Re: New GL1500 owner here

Had a set back today. While at the fire station today I figured I would get the carburetors cleaned and rebuilt, but in the process of doing so broke the head off both of the screw in slow jets. As soon as I put the slightest torque to them they just crumbled. Guess it must have been a bad reaction ...

No worrries mate, I've been known to miss the obvious from time to time. Might just replace the speakers with some better ones anyway.

Re: New GL1500 owner here

I'll have to check the controls. I never noticed a balance function before. Would be nice if it was that easy. Another audio question, the tune toggle seems to only work intermittently, the down function seems to work better with less coaxing, is that switch serviceable?

Re: New GL1500 owner here

Well, I earned my Goldwing Carb merit badge yesterday. After pumping out the old gas adding some sea foam and fresh gas I was met with a no start condition, which turned into a nice puddle of gas under the bike. It took me a little while and with some help from some internet DIY's i was able to get ...

Re: New GL1500 owner here

Good morning all, After some time in garage yesterday I had some good success with this new project. I was able to get the clutch bled and working nicely with no apparent leaks. I was then able to get the linked brakes bled and working properly. Not really sure why they lost pressure, but when I lef...

Re: New GL1500 owner here

Thanks for tips everyone. Timing belts are absolutely going to be done; I have a local Gates dealer and I'll get the belts from him. I'm so used to dealing with CB750's and the disaster that the carburator's are after sitting for extended time, I didn't even think about just trying some cleaner in s...

New GL1500 owner here

As the title says I just picked up a 1992 GL1500. It is a well kept bike with some minor issues stemming from some mild neglect from the previous owner. This bike is a 2 prior owner machine. The first owner was a great owner and kept up on all the needed maintenance as needed. He then bought another...
