Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Another thing not mentioned yet is to get the fuel bowl gaskets. That may be the source of your carb leak. I had a fuel leak on my 94 model and that was where it was coming from. That gasket will get compressed flat and won't contain the fuel. Thanks Bellboy, I am looking into having the local shop...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

REPLACE the orange tube(s), looks bad. #2, could bigger one be breather tube connected to that black plastic T? Smaller one could be bowl draining tube going under bike. I think the nipples are for bowl draining, you are missing tubes from them, connected together to that tube going under bike? Can...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

The first thing I would get is an impact driver, (to remove the screws on the carb top plate and bottom coolant plate. These screws are very tight and I would give them a tap with it when reinstalling them). 6FB6E951-DACB-4FBE-B25E-A3DF180A5862.png A set of long needle nose pliers with bent nose (t...

Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Hi everyone! So I finally had time and weather to tear down to the carbs. 93 Aspencade, stock and mostly original. 90k miles. Put the bike to sleep in Dec outside with a cover, was leaking coolant somewhere over last fall. Starting it over the winter, it also developed a new fuel leak. Purpose here:...

Re: Time for a 3D printer?

I just heard from the vendor who is making this panel for me. He sent me pictures of them, and cosmetically, they look exactly like the original panel. Unfortunately the vendor was only able to finish 60% of my original order in time for Christmas. They are scheduled to arrive Christmas Eve (12/24/...

Re: So I learned the hard way....sometimes it pays to buy new original parts....

Thanks guys for your feedback. Cyclemax and Partzilla for sure, about to order stuff from them both soon. Far as seat covers go, no need, my new used seat is fine as is. I don't care for the sloppy, loose look of those aftermarket seat covers anyway. New seats still available for $245 so its reasona...

Re: Thinking of trying this for voltmeter mount...Thoughts

Yep, they're not being manufactured anymore. I've contacted the original Mfg about getting the molds for this panel. He told me that he got rid of the molds in a "horse-trade" as payment for "services rendered" a few years back, , THEN, , the guy who got the molds got rid of them to a "trucker pass...

Re: So I learned the hard way....sometimes it pays to buy new original parts....

Not to be a total jerk, but you really should do your research BEFORE buying stuff! Right you are sir! I mistakenly assumed based on aftermarket, and used seats, that a new factory seat, if available, would be prohibitively expensive. Because of that, I never even looked it up. When I found i...

Re: So I learned the hard way....sometimes it pays to buy new original parts....

With the part numbers being different, I'd suggest sticking with the "correct" part number for your '93 to be safe. That top crown of the backrest is a VERY common area of failure on these beasts. Keeping it out of the sun when not in use, ,and continually wiping it down with a good supple conditio...

Re: So I learned the hard way....sometimes it pays to buy new original parts....

According to the partzilla catalog they have different part numbers, shape and probably color. 98-2000 77500-MAM-A80ZC 88-97 77500-MT8-000ZA, ZB... That is what I figured, thank you. My bike is blue with dark/slate grey color cockpit plastic. Seat seams to be dark grey, not exactly black, but very ...

Re: Doug's Winter Maintenance Begins

It seems you have most all the items listed that should be checked while you have it torn down. You will need an 18 mm socket for the spark plugs. Somethings I noticed when doing my timing belt. 1) Draining the radiator is totally not required. Its fine if you want to do that too, it's just not req...

Does anyone know if there is any wiring behind the c b knock-out plate looking to mount a volt meter need hot wire. This is the same thing I need to do also. Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

Update: Installed shift shaft brace. Went fairly easy just alot to take off to get to it. One big problem, my oil seal is leaking. I had the seal and wanted to replace it but the shaft would not come off the tip of the shaft by the oil seal. It hits against the frame. After 30mins I gave up trying t...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

You could always ask Cyclemax. but from my experience with sheepskins, you would not want to get them wet, so keeping them dry while riding is a good thing. Yea I guess I will have to call and ask them whats up with that cover. Thanks, was just hoping someone here used it and had experince with it....

Re: Time for a 3D printer?

I got through to the owner at Firecreek, , ,He got rid of the molds to a friend in an "exchange", , ,the friend then got rid of the molds to an unknown truck driver passing through the area. The original molds are no longer an option to getting a panel done. Luckily, or maybe not, I'm working on CA...

Saturday's project, almost done. Gotta reinstall the dash tomorrow. Enlarged the front speaker cutout by about another 1/4". Had to really trim the top and bottom edges of the 521's, and trim all four sides of the 510's to make them fit in back. uD45ePNCwe0 Your speakers look good and sound good to...

Re: 1500 won't start after juming battery

Check kill switch.

Check fuel pump signal from ecu wire to fuel pump when cranking.

And or check fuel pump by jumping power from battery to pump.

That windshield looks pretty good, can’t imagine you’d get any static about the blue tint along the bottom. Is there much left on your to-do list (besides the grip maybe) or are you all caught up? Thanks! I love the new shield, but it seems a bit narrow. Could be my imagination lol. Fyi the Memphis...
