Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
I don't know.
1. The windshield is way too low. 2. It does not have a trunk. 3. We have to get the deluxe model, if we want a center stand; that sucks! 4. I think, this was redesigned for Europeans. Over here,
a long ride is more than a 100 miles. This redesign is a wait & see; I'll stay with my 2012, for now.
Is it lighter? What is the performance like?

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
the F6B should handle even better than the Gold Wing: Claimed curb weight is 842 pounds, or 62 pounds less than the standard GL1800.
but who care the Rune and valkyrie are no goldwings this is... en changing you earlier gl1800 to this model is also possible... so...
btw lower windshield must nog be a problem the vairing takes away most of the wind... harley has them for years now... so it is a US invention...
thank god we don't all like the same model... or else we would all ride the same bikes...

imho, we talk about all the distractions that cage drivers have, texting phone use and so on and we complain because we don't have the same distractions on our cruisers, give me music and i'm good to go. I can check my phone when i stop for fuel, look at the map if needed. I will keep my wing and enjoy it as long as the good lord allows.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
To me, it looks like a triumph of marketing over engineering. Honda is known as an engineering firm when it comes to bikes: there are SO many innovative "firsts" that came from Honda. So why this step backward?
This looks like the marketing people said, "hey, lots of people buy Harley's, why can't we make a Goldwing look like a Harley, so people will buy them instead?"
It won't work. Harley people buy Harleys because...they are Harleys! Just because they can make a Goldwing look like a Harley doesn't make it one.
It takes what is good about a Goldwing, removes some of the great features, and tries to sell it as something special. Goldwings are not known for their limited storage, uncomfortable passenger seating, and a blast of wind in your face from a non-existent windshield. Those are normally Harley "features." They even copied the little stubby Harley antenna.
This is a sad form-over-function exercise. I'm disappointed.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
All in all, variety is good for the brand. This new bike style will definitely swing some of the Harley crowd towards Honda's GL1800. I believe once a Harley rider gets on the new F6B they will be hooked on the 1. Style, 2. Power 3. The younger guys will be all over this! 4. Aftermarket hop up parts will be FLYING out of the factories for Honda's boxer motors. Change is good people, without it we grow old and have a tendacy to look "Backwards" instead of forward.

A new Wing for 2013 from Honda.
MBL Innovations made a custom Wing with the same styling years earlier.

I received an e-mail from Niehaus cycle today announcing a new goldwing model to be added in 2013. It's called the Gold Wing F6B. No trunk, making it a lighter bike.

I don't think it looks that bad, Every brand offers different options for their top bikes, I think it's about time Honda did it with the wing. Remember when each year was a certan color & you had no choice!?

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing - BREAKING NEWS!
i dont get any " gone all weekend" rides in, so my wing hasnt had its trunk installed in years- wow my trunkless 86 looks like an F6B ! (with a windshield)- my windshield is perfect i always look over it a bit, and the wind usually barely touches the top of my helmet- unless its blustery- i headed into a strong wind a couple days ago and thought about shifting back into 4th- the wing really was gulping gas for those miles
id be curious how high the F6Bs windshield is

Quoted from Motorcycle.com on the F6B
"A product of creative thinking or an amorous three-way between a Harley-Davidson Road Glide, DN-01 and Gold Wing, the F6B is certainly something new for Honda."

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

You had better check the Honda Power Sports site. The two new 1800's are out.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!
Poached from the Cycle World site:
Although the retro-cool CB1100 and the trio of affordable new CB500s received the lion’s share of attention at Honda’s 2013 media preview, the last bike to be unveiled might just be the most fun. It’s the F6B, a low-slung, fully hot-rodded Gold Wing that makes a bold styling statement with its shorty windscreen, sleek fairing, gunfighter-style seat and blacked-out wheels, engine and frame, not to mention that pair of saddlebags hung way out behind the rider.
So, is this new F6B a bagger? A Honda official wouldn’t say it is, but he certainly didn’t reject the notion. What we know for certain is this: The F6B is based on the Gold Wing’s excellent twin-spar aluminum frame, and it’s powered by the familiar 1832cc flat-Six, a sohc two-valve-per-cylinder engine that’s fed by electronic fuel injection with twin 40mm throttle bodies. As in the standard Gold Wing, the horizontally opposed engine helps keep the center of gravity low, which should make the F6B feel smaller than it actually is, especially in corners. And while no motorcycle that weighs 842 pounds should ever be considered light, the F6B tips the scales some 62 lb. less than a standard Gold Wing.
Honda says the F6B is designed to bring younger buyers into the Gold Wing family, largely with its sleek, statement-making style. Nevertheless, the bike is still designed to work well on weekend trips, aided by a glovebox, a premium audio system (with iPod/MP3 capability), a saddlebag open indicator and a multi-information screen that features a clock, trip meter, air temperature gauge and audio controls. Two models will be available when the F6B arrives in the spring—the $19,999 standard bike and the $20,999 Deluxe, which is fitted with a passenger backrest, heated grips, a centerstand and self-canceling turn signals. Accessories—including LED foglights, a taller windscreen and numerous chrome extras—are available as expected through Honda.
The first decision you’ll have to make, though, is simple: Black or Red, as they are the only two colors available. Make ours black, as the new 2013 Honda Gold Wing F6B looks best that way, its curves and tapered tail almost having a sultry French look, as seen on classic Delahaye and Delage automobiles.

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!
I would have to try it. This is like comparing a cadillac to the camaro. Both are great rides, and they serve their purpose. I would ride a big full dress on a long trip, and the F6B to work and back (that is 70 mile each way). Not bad not bad. Price tag though, everything is way too expensive, will have to wait until I find a good used one. Since they will last over 100k miles, should not be a problem.
I also agree, like the black better. The red-black looks cheaper for some reason.
