FINALLY DETAILED!

hey guys i know you all like pics and im gonna brag a little, i finally detailed my bike after getting the new starter on and finally detailed my bike after the paint and everything just to show you guys where it has come from here is a before and after pic from when i got it in december to where it is now at the end of march.

hey Hal, she looks great. you did a fantastic job on her. she looks like a totally different bike. love the way you did the fairing molding. nice contrast of color, makes the front of the bike stand out better.

thanks guys for all the cool replies and yes she runs and runs great i might add, took her for another ride today rode into town to pick up my oil filter i orderede from autozone for 5 bucks then came home and done an oil change, rode all day with seafoam in and what came out of my motor was simply black water, dont know how long the po rode without changing the oil but it sure must have been a while, there was no viscosity left at all just black water or trhat was the seafoam doing its job, put in valvoline 10/40 bike oil and man she purrs like a kitten and shifts a lot better its amazing how much difference an oil change made on this bike!

The Seafoam will thin the oil a bit, which is why you want to ride gently (no hard acceleration) while it's in there.

The first time I dosed my GL1100 engine with Seafoam, when I drained (what was reasonably fresh oil) I got grey oil with black gooey chunks coming out. Yech.

Thanks so much everyone! It took 4 months and a butt load of work and patience especially knowing i could have been riding, but i promised myself not one ride until it was finished, and man that was a tough promise to keep lol. I just finished putting in my toggle switch for my blue leds that run along the bottom of the tank, I mounted it on the lefthand side of my false tank lid on the left hand side and about an inch from the bottom, just under the key hole for the false tank, also replaced my passenger footboard rubber pad because the po had tried to make the original pad stick with what looked like j.b weld but it didnt hold and the pad was gone. I just used a thick piece of the rubber walk pads they put on commercial roofs to get to the ac units and such. I cut it to fit the inside where the old one was, cleaned both the rubber and foot board then wiped both with alchohol and used simple velcro tape to attach it, it worked amazing and 70 mph on the interstate doesnt phase it lol, hope some of this may have helped someone.....Hal

And thanks Overdog, that was exactly what I was talking about, supposed to have a set coming,, I will let you guys know how that turns out. I have some final chrome on the way like the 6 chrome gills for the lower fairing and some aftermarket chrome horns, when they get installed I will post pics of the 100 percent finished project

You did a really fine job,, I know the work you put into it, especially the paint,,, glad you got those timing belts straight... next time it will take a whole 8 minutes to change them being they are on their marks now.. I know how hard it can be to get the paint just right.. Then the clear... Patience is the truth man.. You can sand down everything perfect then prime, out comes something you missed, same with the paint,,,always some little mark that frustrates you,, gotta do it again.. :shock:
