about a week ago the CT 70H motor started having trans problems so JW swapped motors and put the XL 70 motor in but we didn't notice the broken exhaust studs. sunday I took the Mighty CT70 over to my buddy tony and he got the studs out, put the exhaust on and fired it up. yesterday I put the frame cradle on played with the carb some and adjusted the clutch then took it on its first ride with the XL motor

Took advantage of the unexpected warm(ish) weather today and rode down to the local port, about 40minutes away. I spent some time watching the trucks and trailers being loaded onto the ferry. The picture shows the Pride of Hull which sails each evening, sailing to (tonight) the Dutch city of Rotterdam, she will return tomorrow night, back to her home port. The ship doesn't look very big from the angle I was at but to put it into perspective, she is just 50 metres shorter and some 3 metres wider than the Titanic.

This is my favourite way to get to the continent, a short drive to the docks - there are two ferries, the other one goes to Belgium, ride or drive on board and settle down to a good meal and a few drinks (there are some four bars to choose from) and then go to bed for the remainder of the 12 hour crossing. The main drawback is the eye watering cost. However, it means that I don't have the tedious 5 hour ride to the channel tunnel on the South coast, and it cuts out a night in a hotel. Sailings in summer are generally smooth though the North Sea can get a bit rough in winter.

I've not been around here much lately. We've had a lot going on the last 2 years and things are just now somewhat back to normal in that regard, then COVID-19 happens. So anyway, in the last couple years, our youngest son got married, our first grandchild was born, my wife and I both retired, we took land/sea trip to Alaska (that's been on our bucket list for a while) and bought a lake house. With that all behind us, maybe now I can participate here more often.

So today, we're at the lake house but not doing much because mother nature decided to make it rain today.

Keep the rubber side down.

Is the lake house in Alaska? Sounds idyllic anyway.

Just finished my first Iron Butt on my 2006 Gl1800 with trailer in tow. We ran 1100 miles in 22 hours with a Trike keeping us to 65mph all the way. The trip from Houston to Broken Bow Ok. Was awesome and Beaver Bend State Park 4mile twisty ride in was a blast even with the Deer spectators.
If you ever doubt the comfortability of these bikes just know I renamed this ride to the Iron Wrist as my butt was fine but without cruise control I would have had to cry my way into the finish line!

No, not in Alaska. It's in Pierceton, Indiana.

Sounds grander than my "lake" house. We live on the village pond, it used to be the headwater for a flour mill's waterwheel.

What is that tank on the back of the gL1800, another petrol tank? Or is it full of beer?

Well where ever it is, it sure looks warmer than here today, where it's a very chilly 13c

What is dispensed from the lonely pump in the corner, surely not petrol (gas)?

Just a guess, but maybe, Kerosene. See that a lot at fuel stops here. Used for winter heat by some folks.

My thinking as well. In New York it usually is blue and says "K-1" on it, and has a fitting on the pump that holds the hose captive, so it can only be used to fill jugs near the pump.
