Sticky grips

Any ideas as to how to clean sticky grips and how to prevent it from happening again? The right is bad enough to leave black on my hand. I do not know the brand so I've I closed a picture, hope it helps.

Alcohol or brake cleaner is good to clean sticky stuff like glue residue. How to keep it from reoccurring, I don't know.

I have a pair just like them. They are made by Kuryakyn.
If you do a search, you can find that you aren't the only one with the issue, although I haven't had one.
Reports indicate that it may be from something off your hands or weather affecting the grips.
Basically the consensus is to try and clean them with Simple Green or a Mr Clean eraser to get it clean.
Others have called Kuryakyn and they have exchanged them.

If you have any kind of solvent on your hands - brake fluid included - it will start to actually melt the soft rubber parts, leaving them tacky. I had it happen once, I used Goo Gone to clean the gooey mess off, and rubbing alcohol to get the remnants of the Goo Gone off. That seemed to work fine.

And if nothing works to your satisfaction, give Kuryakyn a call to have them exchanged.

I wear gloves almost year round (even in the Texas heat I have shorty fingerless), so that may be the reason why mine haven't been affected.

Does anyone have the p/n? I've looked on Kuryakyn website, and others like Dennis Kirk, and when I input the bike make year and model, it says does not fit.

I have those grips also.
I use those unscented baby wipes in a bottle, leaves them nice and grippy.
Once my hand is set where I like them, I can relax my hand grip and enjoy the ride.

But if you are the type that don't like grippy grips, rubber items are shipped with a wax coating, try some car wax.

And you can buy 100 for about $12 on Amazon. They are used for a lot of things like covering microphones and radio mic transmitters worn by actors. I keep one rolled on each grip of my show bike (except at the shows) to keep them clean.
