Rode my old goldwing Sunday

Post by ka4yqi » Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:48 am

My friend that bought the 89 goldwing moved down not to far from Macon Ga. While he be moving I been doing a little maintenance on the old 89. He been wondering how he was going to get it home to the new place. So, I got up early Sunday morning and took off on the old 89. First I had to get use to it be quieter that my 98. It has the old style muffler on it and mine has the style that has the wide opening with three holes. Good bit louder that his. When he got it from me it had 148000 miles on it. Sunday i notice it have 157000 on it now. The trip went well, it rode as great as it did when I had it. Seems like these wing run forever.

Always nice to get reacquainted with "old friends" sometimes. :D
Good to hear that it has been ridden and sounds like well taken care of.

Got to go for a ride a couple weeks ago. It seems like whenever it warms up enough to go on a little ride, I'm needed by someone to do something I don't want to do to start with.
Today was a good example. Warmed clear up to the mid 60's. A little windy but it is a motorcycle.
But me and my truck got drafted into moving furniture. Could have said "No, I'm going riding" but at the end of the day, I have to live with her.
The day I got to ride, I finished what someone else wanted done then, without telling anyone, went riding.
Now the suns going down, the temperatures are dropping, the trucks low on fuel, ( no one volunteering to go fill it up either) but I'll get to play with my grandchildren after supper!
Then TV and bed.
Maybe it'll warm up next week.

I'm going for a ride on Sunday. Short, just about 150 miles. First time it hasn't been raining or too cold this winter. Changed the batteries on the TPS and aired the tires back up to spec. Got to clean it up tomorrow as it has been setting since late November. Checked out the lights and turn signals to make sure everything is working properly and added some glue to my left heated grip as it had broken loose. Looking forward to getting out in the sunshine for a few hours.

bstig60, sounds like you've got a great plan for Sunday.
That's exactly what I need to do! As soon as it warms up again,...as soon as it warms up,...there's some maintenance I really need to do before taking a little ride.
Oh well, warm weather's a coming.
But it is amazing how much dust and dirt one of these things will collect over the winter, even under a 1/2 cover.
Refinishing furniture and building stuff in there didn't help either.
