Body Damage

Post by hap2 »

I need some help. A local van / bus backed into my 1992 GL 1500 SE & the organization it belongs to is willing to reimburse me for the repairs. It's just that I don't know where to get parts or find anyone willing to do the work. I'm in southern Alberta Canada, but if I can find somewhere online to get parts, I will.

I will also search a parts fiche to identify the parts I need & let you know.

So if you know someone in the general area that's willing to have a look at it, that be a bonus.

Thank you so much

Hi Hap. If the parts you need are stock Honda parts then Ross over at Adventure Honda can get you anything you need. He is one of the best parts guys I've ever dealt with. I wouldn't shop anywhere else except maybe Turple Brothers in Red Deer.

They are located at 630 46th Ave NE Calgary. I don't think they do any bodywork or painting there but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm sure they have done insurance work in the past involving painting on bike parts so they could probably help you with a recommendation.

Actually, your best bet is to have a Honda dealer do an estimate for you on repairs. They will document everything that is needed to fix the bike. As to body work, I don't think you will want to do body work as in repair and paint. It will be just as easy and for about the same price to replace anything that is broken.

When the Honda dealer does an estimate, they will provide you with part numbers. Then you can research the online sites to find prices and availability. A good place to check is Partzilla. Actually, it is the best place I can think of.

Sorry to hear about the accident by the way, that sucks.

Thankx Mike. I'll check Partzilla

I don't find the local Honda Dealership here very helpful cuz to them, my 92 is "too old". With only 56,000 miles on her, to me (& others), it's barley broken in. But anyway...
