Caution-Kids Present

Just a word of caution that your statements can come back and haunt you.

My son and I buy older motorcycles and fix them up for riding or selling. Lots of fun and we look for deals. Bought a 2000 Suzuki Katana 750 for a song and a dance and my son fixed it up to ride it. Being an older bike he was doing frequent maintenance on it. My son worked 7 days a week for over 2 years at two jobs to keep things going. Finally got a new job with better pay, benefits, etc.. with help from me. Well almost two years into the job, I suggested (ok told him) he should look into a new bike so he could ride instead of work on it. We went looking and he settled on a 2017 Yamaha FJR1300ES (he did look at the F6B). All the time I was telling him if you like it, get it. You deserve it. The salesman had to love me!

Well I was riding my 1982 GL1100 Aspencade when he "suggested" that I should look for a newer bike since it seems I was doing frequent work on it instead of riding. Hmmmm, I have to say he was right. Turn about is fair play.

I now ride a 2006 GL1800.

Careful what you say to your kids!

I can't say I'm complaining. I love the ride, the feel, the cornering. I haven't gotten the hitch on yet to try pulling my Bunkhouse but I expect it will be really nice to pull with that bike.

I have the 1980 and 1982 up for sale. Both are running great. Sitting the winter out on a charger/maintainer and waiting for riding season to start up again.

Now working on my daughter to get her license to ride with us. She's petite so I have a GS450L and CM400 Custom that she can have to ride. Both older but great bikes.

Steve
