installing Sirius on my 2012 Goldwing

Post by bugsbd »

I would like to thank all the comments and suggestions I saw when I was looking for ways to mount and connect my Sirius radio to the bike. I saw several comments about having to add a isolator if I was going to use the aux to connect the radio into my sound system and audio system. I just wanted to say thanks for all the informative comments, because they worked. I got a jack for the radio and an isolator as well and have no engine/alternator noise when riding and listening to the radio thru the aux of the bike. Thanks for all your help folks. I got it from J&M audio for $79 and they gave me 15% off since I called for info on the item.

Good job. When you're dealing with audio level signals on a car or motorcycle, with different components that were not originally bonded together and designed to connect to one another - and that have different power supplies - you pretty much have to have a ground loop isolator, or you will be chasing noise down forever. It's possible to get away without one, but it takes a lot of time, effort and compromise on positioning and even then you might not eliminate it all.

It's available in the Nav version and above, but not on the base Audio/Comfort version.
