Cleaning vented windshield?

Post by Straydogg »

I changed to a vented windshield and noticed something. How am I going to clean between the dash and the vent? Not enough room for my hand to get in there..... Anybody?

No way that I know of. That is one reason I do not have vented windshields on my bikes.

Yeah Mike. I never thought of that being a problem. Gotta figure something out. Thanks...

I use a large Micro fiber towel and just kind of stuff it in there and work it back and forth.

Sounds like the best way. Not gonna be real clean I guess but I'm gonna like the vent on the hot days. :)

The vented windshield is tough to clean, but that vent makes all the difference in the world when it's hot.

for guys with a 1500 or 1800 just raise the windshield, for guys with non adjustable windshields you could remove the vent to clean the dash

a dampened cloth draped over the end of a spatula or a paint stir stick will get in there fine

Well, I had my windshield off to mess with new speakers. When I put it back on I set it as high as it would go. More room now and I think it's gonna work just fine. Thanks to all.

If it's dusty, a Swiffer duster works great

Room now for a microfiber towel. My hand just fits enough now. Thanks

There's a windshield cleaning thingy I bought years ago from wallyworld. It has a micro fiber pad on a plastic curved handle. It works well on the bike as well as the car. They used to sell the same thing on TV.

Raise the windshield up to it's highest position.
I have plenty of room to get my fingers in there to clean
when it's up.
