Generations

Post by timsatx » Thu Mar 15, 2018 9:18 am

I am trying to get a clear idea of generations of Goldwings. As I understand it the are essentially 6 generations, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1500, 1800 (2001-2017) and now the 2018. Is that correct? If so I always get confused when people are talking about their 1rst or 2nd gen bike and then they are talking about the 1800.

I suppose that it would be better if "they"referenced the year and not the generation.
There were production changes in most every bike.
My Gl1500 would be considered the first generation..it's a 1988.Changes were made in 1990.More changes came in later years. How many?I can only guess.Maybe near 7 or 8 of them. Some changes were internal..some external..
What generation would the 1998 gl1500 be and do you include each model?
Maybe they refer to major changes in design only...
Too confusing.
Just tell me the year, make and model....
