Re: Shipping Gl1800
A couple of years a buddy of mine had his bike shipped from Texas to Iowa, the dealer used a shipper that they use. It was an enclosed trailer. Dealer usually should help you with the move.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Re: Shipping Gl1800
even though I used AAA before, I would avoid them now.
they transfer over to "local trucks" at each end, and independent carriers on the road.
they are nothing more than a dispatcher using independent truckers.
no way to guarantee that the bike will be taken care of by experienced m/c movers.
in fact, when my bike arrived, I had to "take over" on the unloading process because it became apparent "real fast now" that they had never ridden a motorcycle and did not know how to control it backing it off the truck.
I would use the mainline haulers, like http://www.haulbikes.com/

or some one that really emphasises they know their stuff.

Thanks for all the input. I used UShip, the driver picked up in Indiana on Thursday 5/17 and delivered in Florida 5/21. Funny thing
also had a 1947 Studebaker in the trailer, could not get him to trade.

Where are you having it shipped from? If it's somewhere in the Southeast I'll pick it up from the dealer and ride it to your house if you like! (t.i.c.)
