Welcome Bryce, Depending what your question concerns determines the forum you post in, but go ahead and post in Chat and the moderators can decide if it needs to be in another forum. The big this is you ask your question.

Good Morning. Ride a 2008 1800GL and love it. Have been riding a Yamaha Raider, which is a very nice cruiser, but the GW is something completely different. Unbelievable ride. Bike is beautiful, will post some pics later. Glad to be with you guys.

Hey there fellow Goldwingers! I’m happy to be a new member of this community- having acquired an awesome ‘82 GL1100I in the past few weeks, I’ll definitely be coming here to refer to the vast array of resources available in this forum for maintenance, repairs and any tips/ advice from the more experienced members.
Got the bike for a very good price because the starter clutch needs to be fixed (starter spins but the engine doesn’t turn over). I need to push it down a slope to get it started on compression but it works wonderfully once it starts so I’m happy to just go for a fun ride every few days for now. Not looking forward to removing the engine but with guidance from this site and the Clymers manual I’ve ordered, it will be accomplished more easily during the coming winter months.
Any other members here in the western Quebec (Vaudreuil) region?

Welcome CnCBuss. Be sure to start a separate thread when you get ready to replace the starter clutch. Just my experience with starter clutches. I put and Allballs clutch in and forget it. I have put some aftermarket and OEM clutches in and usually down the road I end up replacing it again. I've put a couple of Allballs clutches in on different bikes and sold them with the clutches still installed after many years and miles on them. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Hello out there! Just joined yesterday and working on figuring this posting thing out. Looks pretty good so far with enough to keep me interested as I get going. Just bought a used 2016 Gl 1800 with 3000 miles and 2years of transfer warranty left. Got about 100 miles in over the week end and LOVE it. Got about an inch of snow over night. HATE IT. That’s Wisconsin. Had been riding a 1982 Suzuki GS1100. Still love it but won’t restore or repair it. Heated seats etc and fairing on GW should extend the riding season. Month on either side of winter and really looking forward to it. Glad to join the group. Looking forward to learning from all your experiences good or bad, and looking forward to adding some of my own. Oh...I’m 6’7” and 58 years old. I appreciated the article on tall man seats and look forward to such things that help me make my bike my own.

Thanks for the welcome. I was hoping to get some riding before winter blew, but thank goodness the snow blower started to take care of the 8-10 inches of snow I came home to this afternoon! Time for reading up on the winter storage tips!

Hello All,
My name is Shain and I live on Oak Island NC. I'm a contractor and pretty handy with tools but never did any mechanical work; just woodworking. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to purchase a 2006 gz250 for cheap and my love for riding was rekindled. I refer to her as my second first bike. I had a cb450 back in high school. The gz is a great learner but I didn't realized how small it is until the Hawk came around. A 1980 cb400t I found on craigslist for $75. I bought it just to take it apart and get a $75 education in motorcycle mechanics but a few months later I am riding my new daily driver. The Hawk runs great but it ain't much to look at or make long rides on. This brings me to my latest purchase, a 1975 gl1000. This bike, I've named her Donna, sat in the sellers basement for 32 years. The seller parked it after having trouble with the starter intending to fix it later, which never came. He also said it "needed a clutch" so there's that. The only other thing he told me was it has electronic ignition, an improvement he had installed so not fully stock. Anyways, I've attached some photos.

Hi guys my name is Bogdan i have 1983 goldwing gl1100
Please help.
Maybe someone had that issue before.i bought a no running goldwing from older gentlemen, i have almost 3 gallons of fuel in tank, replaced spark plugs NGK, engine oil and filter, new battery new fuses. I had chance to start a bike for 5 seconds and it died. So... I tried to replace yesterday 11/14/19 solenoid. Someone before also replaced plug that was supposed to go in with just 4 wires so i decided to install plug back. Replaced solenoid, tried to start my bike and nothing happened. I felt starter was hot and solenoid + wire hot as well. I took battery off reinstalled wires back and original solenoid, also i replaced starter i thought i kill the original one and that's why it doesn't work. So my issue is everything works on bike but when I'm trying to start nothing... No crank no any sounds at all.

Hi Bogdan, welcome aboard. First thing I think about is the kill switch. Have you checked it?

I will check today. It looks weak kind of i have donor bike in little better condition with low miles. I was planning to replace both side of the steering wheel handles with kill switch / push button and clutch.

Welcome Eugenio. Perhaps if you posted on the main forum about your issue you will get more attention to it. Also if you can elaborate some that would be helpful, Like do you have fuel coming from a carb, is the choke on or off, what do the spark plugs look like.
