Ultragard Half Cover

Post by RockportDave »

Received my Ultragard half cover today from Cyclemax. Fits the bike nice and tight. I got it in the Cranberry color so it matches the bike pretty well. I had to leave the bike in the sun about 10 minutes the other day and the seat was almost too hot to set on. Definitely a needed accessory for South Texas.

very needed, I'd scotchguard it as well, to help with rain and to help protect the cover. Oh, and FYI, those straps will wear out in a couple years, just keep an eye on them, I keep having to add a knot to mine, need to look at replacing the straps with some other material

Thanks for the info. I’ll get some spray on it when I get back home. Had to leave the same day it came in, so I stretched it over the bike in the garage to let it break in.
Did you make your trip to San Antonio?

I don't leave till the 28th. Getting the last bits I need for the trip. Ordered a RAM clutch base and will use an external battery to keep GPS powered. I did update the maps to be sure.

I’m working in New Braunfels about 20 minutes north of San Antonio. I’ll be going home the 26th and be back the 30th.
I’m staying in Seguin, about 30 mins east of San Antonio. If you need anything while here let me know.

a Word of Warning on the UltraGuard 1/2 cover.

it does indeed fit nice and snug, I like that.

But, you MUST put something over the antenna hinge points, or it will poke a hole thru the cover after about the 3rd time you use it.

I am using Tennis balls cut about 2/3rds the way around.
Other folks have used rubber hose, and other tricks.....
Tennis balls are a bright yellow and easy to find in the trunk.

Hmm, used mine for the last 2 years, haven't had an issue with that happening.

YMMV,

but have two covers with holes in them....
the one on my current 1800 because I waited too long,

and on my '98SE, it did the same thing

I saw one guy's UltraGuard half cover at a rally last year.

he got some of that leatherette stuff with flannel on the backside, and sewed that to the cover on the bottom side, made a super neat package.
