State Motorcycle Laws
Which one do you think is ignored the most?
Exhaust System, Handlebar Height, Helmets, Headlights?
Here in OkieLand all but helmets are ignored.

Re: State Motorcycle Laws
In the State where I am from, we are pretty well regulated. For a start "learner riders" (ie those that have only a Learner permit), they have to sit a theory exam before they can get the L plates. The L plates have a specification for their size and colour and where they are to be displayed. After passing their L plates, which requires a log-book stating how many hours they have been riding on different surfaces (dry, wet. bitumen, day, night, etc), they then progress to a P plate - which comes in two colour, red and green. The red has to be displayed for 12 months, and then you progress to the green, if you are able to pass a further test. No alcohol at all; strict speed limits; and the size of the mc is limited to about 600 cc.
So that is what it is like to get an R endorsement (for rider) on your licence. It is similar for car licence, with them being constricted to Automatic or stick shift, the stick shift gets them an automatic, but if you have an auto only licence, then you are not allowed to drive a stick shift (or manual as we call it).

I am looking at your list of Oklahoma motorcycle laws and I see the last one says "Accept Motorcycle Endorsement From Other States". That's something I hope every state accepts. I've never even considered the possibility my license would be invalid anywhere in the USA or Canada.

I wonder if that applies to applications for licenses or only if you get pulled over while traveling through or visiting the state.Good Hondog wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 10:37 am I am looking at your list of Oklahoma motorcycle laws and I see the last one says "Accept Motorcycle Endorsement From Other States". Re: State Motorcycle Laws
It means they will accept the M/C Endorsement from any other state when you apply for a DL in Oklahoma. Just like they do when you surrender your old DL from out of state.Fiberthree wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 11:51 amI wonder if that applies to applications for licenses or only if you get pulled over while traveling through or visiting the state.Good Hondog wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 10:37 am I am looking at your list of Oklahoma motorcycle laws and I see the last one says "Accept Motorcycle Endorsement From Other States". I kept my Arizona DL, but they punched a hole in the top of it.

If you mean ignored by the police, up here where I live, it would be helmets. If you meant ignored by those who are farkling their bikes, it would be handlebars and exhausts on Harleys. We are almost getting to the old ape hanger heights on bars here with the "Sons of Anarchy" styled Harleys, and pipes are getting a lot louder again.
Cops here used to ticket helmets pretty much at will, right or wrong, till BRO got involved and said all helmet tickets would go to court. The police chief did not want all his officers sitting in court, so they stopped with the B.S.

That list of Oklahoma laws doesn't mention filtering (lane splitting). I realise it is essentially about the machine's compliance rather than riding but it does list "riding two abreast".

Re: State Motorcycle Laws
Lane Splitting in OkieLand will get us a ticket if caught.
2 abreast don't seem to matter. the hog boys do it all day long,
us Honda riders don't, we go to opposite sides of the lanes and zig zag pattern.

Two abreast is legal in Colorado, Lane Splitting is not.
In a group, we always use the zig-zag as John described, I very rarely ride two-abreast, only if it is with a very trusted friend. And NEVER on the twisties!
