Oh, looks like he's re-listed it, for the bargain price of $20,000:

My late mother remembered seeing a real pulse jet in 1944 in the shape of a V1 flying bomb. It landed in a field some 6 miles away from her home, thankfully doing little damage other than breaking windows. Interesting technology, pulse jets. Very simple but inefficienct, they were never developed as manned aircraft engines although the US did build some helicoptors in the early 50s with pulse jets in the rotor wing tips.

Jim Bede was quite an engineer. An Ohio boy. Worth a read about him if you have some time. Of course having a plane in a James Bond movie is never a bad thing!

His Autocycle/Litestar/Pulse was a really neat idea. Would be really something with a GL1500 powerplant, maybe with a supercharger! Of course not really a jet but still an impressive road machine.

I suppose the person that buys it knows the story. But IMHO the current owner could do a whole lot better in his ad description for $20,000.

If that thing has real pulse jets, it has to be louder than hell.
It would make a straight pipe Harley seem quiet by comparison.

Been looking up stuff, Jim Bede never actually used pulse jets, although he did use conventional jet engines. I think "Pulse" was just a name.

I think the helicopters with jets on the rotor tips actually used ram jets, not pulse jets, if I recall. Like the Hiller Hornet:

Yes, the Hiller Hornet used ramjets. I remember reading that night flights were always
good for a few UFO reports due to the circle of fire from jets.
Pulse jets are an entirely different animal. Back in the 50s and 60s, you could buy
plans from ads in Popular Mechanics to build your own pulse jets.

I am surprised no one has put a pulse jet in a Harley - it might reduce the noise.

Didn't the Fairey "Rotodyne" use tip jets, back in the 50's/60's, but I don't think it ever went into production. Noise from the tip jets being one of the problems

Yes it did. In fact in was a complex machine as it also had two turbo-prop engines as well. The wing tip jets were ram jets, and were used for vertical take off and hovering. When the aircraft was in normal forward motion it used the two turbo - props with the rotor blades unpowered in auto-gyro mode. Noise and politics killed it. It's amazing we made stuff like that back in the 50s whilst at the same time producing coal/steam powered locomotives for our railways.

The Fairey Rotodyne was an amazing machine. Part airplane, part helicopter and part gyroplane.
And the thing worked amazingly well.
As far as I know, they only built one. And they destroyed it when they were done with it.
Politicians are a bunch of a**holes.

If you missed this sale on FleaBay, here's a nicer one for even more money: https://kokomo.craigslist.org/mcy/d/pul ... 08414.html

Looks good in the pics and this guy at least provides some description although I don't know where he gets "rocket" from.
