HID Headlights

Post by glascutter » Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:46 pm

I have a set of HID Headlights on my 2004 1800 Goldwing and the left one is giving me problems and it seems just to be on long trips. I can start out with it on and about the 2nd or 3rd fuel stop it decides to shut down and may stay out for the rest of the first day and even the next day but eventually I get told by someone riding in front of me that I have both lights again and they will stay on the rest of the trip.
Trying to figure out whats going on and I have had them checked out and the Honda mechanic can find nothing wrong. I have had this problem since the day they were installed. Do you have to replace these bulbs a lot or would be wise to switch to EC H7 LED kit for the 1800's.

You probably have a bad ballast. The LEDs are the way to go now. I got a set off Amazon that look identical to the ECs & $40 cheaper but the connectors are different and I had to make my own spacers. I used OE H7 bulb sockets to adapt the connectors & 1/4" pieces cut off a 1/2" pvc pipe connector for the spacers.
