Riding on the Beach

Post by RockportDave » Sat Dec 15, 2018 7:17 pm

Normally we don’t get off of pavement, but we went to Port Aransas today and drove down On The Beach Dr which is sand. It’s packed very well stays smooth. No wind so not much wave action and the tide was very low. Temp 65°. Great day for a ride.

I hope you take the bike to the carwash soon. Lots of nooks and crannies to hide salty sand.
That said, the last time I rode on the beach was at South Padre. Had to get towed out. My gl1100 buried up to the engine.

Wouldn't want to go much past beach access 1. Gets real soft toward the larger condo's. There were a few places that really slowed my truck and the further you go the less packed the road gets. Looks like fun and I still want to ride ole blue down for a weekend.

We usually don’t get on the beach, but they had it packed. I could see where the 4 wheels had turned sharp and didn’t cause loose sand so we went in and out the same access.
We usually go to Padre Island and park at White Cap Beach. It has paved parking and stairs to the beach.
