Definitely did a job on that...

I think IMHO he was going too fast and did not read the traffic in front of him.. Glad the rider seemed to get off pretty lightly - not so much for the bike.

Ouch. He was following too close, the car in front hit his brakes, the GL1800 rider panicked, locked his front wheel and went down headfirst into the pavement. Knocked him out for a few seconds. He's lucky he wasn't run over or more seriously hurt.

That rider definitely did not follow the Rules of Safe Riding.

We would not allow him to ride in our Okie-Arkie group. :!:

Foolish on the rider's part; just can't force the bike into small spaces like that, especially in traffic.

If you ever needed a reason to wear a helmet this is it. Fell down right on his head. Would have been much worse if no helmet was worn.

I'm thankful he wasn't hurt more seriously.

Anti-locks? Didn’t help him any.

He didn't think far enough ahead or look far enough ahead. I try to keep an eye on traffic 3-5 cars ahead of me. As many lanes as I can see. I am looking for the brake lights, swerving, etc so that I have more time to respond to what is happening. I have also slowed down and put space in front of me. Then when the cage driver pulls in front of me I back off from him too. I am out to enjoy myself, not get caught up with other driver's bad choices. Too many things to watch for fast and furious riding.

I am glad I have my full face helmet. When I crashed (my fault, my stupidity) I took scrapes down the left side of the helmet and the face shield was totally trashed. I used to always use a 3/4 helmet but not anymore. Even with the full face helmet I got a mild concussion and still don't remember the accident other than picking up my motorcycle after it.

He is lucky but a little more attention could have avoided this crash. Look ahead and make sure you have an out.

Ride Safe!

That needs to go into the thread "The idiots are out there". Totally avoidable. No signal and cut in way to close between the two vehicles. Clueless! No sympathy from me.

Wonder if that "knocked" some sense into him. That was just dumb riding.

Yes, that's the whole point of ABS. Can it be turned off on a GL1800? If the ABS was working correctly, surely this should not have happened?

Might not have had it. if he had a low or mid tier 1800, those don't have ABS.

ABS is now a requirement on all motorcycles over 125cc built after 2016 in Europe.

I know I'm going to end up looking like a fool here, but what am I missing? At 12:19:40 he's in the right hand lane. He disappears from view, as he passes the camera vehicle, at 12:19:41. Then he reappears in the left hand lane, just ahead of the camera vehicle, lane changes at 12:19:43 and wipes out at 12:19:46.
Does anyone else find that confusing? Probably not!
