Might be wrong about this but in 1990, all that was available was the gl1500 and the SE variant. The SE had two tone paint work and a windscreen vent as the most obvious extras. https://www.goldwingmisfits.co.uk/goldw ... 0-history/

I have read that, but also read the SE would have 2 tone and windscreen vent and a spoiler. this only has 2 tone unless that was changed. is there a digit or 2 in the vin that tells me this ?

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, the VIN would tell us. Or a picture of the rear of the bike and the cockpit (gauges and handlebar controls). SE should have correct SE badging on rear (as would an Interstate or Aspencade) although these emblems sometimes get removed or changed.

Does look like a 1990 Carmel Blue; not two tone. Look at BrettChallenger's avatar above and you can see the gray panels over the white which is characteristic of the SE. Should have Reverse, cassette player (I can see the cassette deck door), cruise control and air compressor control panel.

This may help: https://www.goldwingfacts.com/goldwinghistory.htm

Not an SE for sure. Missing one antenna you can see the plate covering mounting holes. Prolly an Am/Fm radio. It has the radio cover but that plastic exposed looks one piece the cassette door is a little higher on the radio. For some reason the C.B. antenna is installed instead of the Am/FM and most likely no C.B. The passenger boards are not adjustable but someone installed the adjustable plates to do it manually.

As far as I can see, the only paint scheme available in 1990 which included blue paint was indeed a two-tone scheme, viz. Commadore Blue Metallic / Triton Blue Metallic. However, the colours listed for 1989 include a single tone scheme, Dynastic Blue Metallic.

From the photo I can see it does not look to be two tone Looks solid blue. Some parts were gray on all bikes and don't change with color scheme. Two tone is very apparent.

This is a Goldwing. Not an Aspencade. Not a SE. Not an Interstate.

You may well be correct Andy. It would be good to see a difinitive list of paint schemes - even better if it was accompanied by pictures/brochures.

Thank you all, I didn't know that the bottom being another color didn't make it tu-tone!

Ya pretty much. SE's had tu-tone paint, passenger adjustable floor boards, an extra set of cable operated vents in the lowers to direct air over your feet, spoiler with brake light, chrome rotor covers, and a few other minor tweaks through the years. Aspencade had all of the goodies minus the SE touches that I mentioned and some did not have rear speakers like mine they were added later. Interstates were stripped even further AM/FM radio no c.b. no rear speakers, no cornering lights etc.. There was even a standard can't remember the year and only saw one personally just an AM/FM radio, no reverse or onboard compressor/adjustable shock it looked pretty bare.

The color of that '90 Goldwing is called Carmel Blue (PB224) and the centershelter/dash color is called Pigeon Blue (B75L). Hard to tell for sure but that centershelter/dash could be whats called Real black (NH188L). If you look under the gas cap door you should see the PB224 number as your paint color.

Honda made the '90 Goldwing AND an SE designation, but no Aspencade or Interstate model, , If it didn't say SE, ,it was just a Goldwing GL1500.
