What did I do wrong? Quiz

I just reinstslled the engine in my 76 after replacing the clutch and clutch oil scavenger pump. (Another story). Maticuously put everything back together. Okay, turned on the petcock, primed the new electric fuel pump and pulled the choke on and hit the starter. Oh, also rebuilt the starter so all good there. Hit the start button and no start. Turned over fast.
But nothing, just like no fuel flow. Once in a while it sounded like it wanted to fire but....no start. After almost running the battery down it finally started. QUIZ, What did I do wrong??? After it started I finally realized what iI forgot to do.

You forgot to hook up power to the pump. Fuel slowly gravity-fed thru the pump until there was enough in the carbs to start it. Sounding like it wanted to start was Carb #3 fills first, then fuel hits the others.
