Longest Ride Yet

Post by RockportDave »

We bought our bike a little over a year ago and today we took the longest ride yet. I finally feel comfortable knowing almost everything is rebuilt, replaced or maintained. Put in about 250 miles. Did a lot of South/South Central Texas riding and saw a lot of Texas history.
We left Rockport and drove to Cuero Texas through Victoria. Took back roads we call FM or Farm to Market roads. Went from Cuero to Kenedy, Kenedy to Goliad (tons of Texas history there), through Refugio, Bayside and back to Rockport. Partly cloudy this morning kept the sun off us for a while and it was comfortable riding. The afternoon we did work on the tans.
The bike performed great and the mileage at one point was almost 40 mpg. We usually average 35 mpg on our shorter runs so the better mileage was a welcome surprise.

John, you’re so right. When they are right, they just keep going and going and going...
We have put a lot of miles on 4 other Goldwings and plan to put a lot of miles on this one. Hope to get up your way one day and ride the Talimena Drive again. Haven’t been there in 20 years, but we have rode it 3 times.
Probably need a boat to get there right now though.
