I'm sorta still deciding what to buy but I've been a fan of Goldwings since I saw the GL1000 as a young boy. Joined the forum to know more about the the bike. I've been driving a 2010 Yamaha FZ6 S2 nowadays but planning to buy a 2nd bike. I'd love something with a windshield because I have tinnitus and if the wind hits my helmet too much I end up hearing buzzes and rings. Any way, do you guys use hearing protection even with the windshield?

Thanks and ride safely!

Years ago, I read an article in Rider magazine about hearing protection. I immediately bought ear plugs to protect my hearing but still suffer from tinnitus today. I always wear earplugs and always will. My hearing is not great but it has not gotten much worse and I am going to try and keep it that way.

Only my first bike did not have a windshield, since then all of them have had one. It doesn't help with noise at all in my opinion and I would tell you to always wear earplugs. My son has already adopted earplugs since he started riding and I hope it helps him keep his hearing.

Welcome! I have a tall windshield on my Gl1500 and it stops a lot of wind noise but I still get traffic and road noise. So earplugs are still needed.
