Did I post this? I can’t recall so if I did then my apologies.
I was coming home to Denver from California. It was a wet cool trip for the most part. Coming into Colorado the roads were dry and beautiful but when I got to Vail Pass it turned with a vengeance.
It was freezing mist and the roads were wet and I think borderline freezing. I was towing my trailer and just trying to make sure I kept traction. I slipped in behind two semis to try and stay in their tracks. I still felt traction slip a few times. I rarely travel with flashers but I was afraid of people not seeing me so I turned them on. Just kept creeping up the pass.
I pulled over to warm up, check road conditions, and gas up. While it was miserable over Vail Pass the roads cleared up down the interstate. I could see this on their tv that showed road conditions. So I hit the road and was able to speed up quite a bit about 1/4 mile down the road. Typical Colorado.
But this is the picture of my fairing when I stopped. Totally iced over as was all exposed surfaces.
Ride Safe.

Re: Vail Pass
Looks like me going through Red Mountain, Molas and Coal Bank passes from Ouray to Silverton to Durango in late May. I actually turned around and went back to Silverton because there was a solid 1/2 inch of snow on the road at that point and the back end slipped a bit on a corner. Lucky for me the bead seat kept me from putting a permanent pucker in the vinyl.

I licked a stamp and RSVP'ed "Loud and clear. Over and out.", then pulled to the side to let a tailing truck go past and turned to descend back below the snow line..."
