I Love Mexican Food!

Post by Solina Dave » Sun Nov 10, 2019 9:07 am

Anyone know of any good Mexican food restaurants? Nowhere in particular, just in Canada and the U.S. Whenever I roll into any town, at mealtime, or to spend the night, the first thing I check is: Are there any good Mexican food restaurants in town? I love Mexican food!

Olé.............Dave :D

Why, yes. Yes I do, but most are not chains or only have 2-3 locations at the most.

I don’t know anything about Canada’s situation. I was up in Seattle once about 10 years ago. We tried a recommended Mexican place and it wouldn’t make it a month down here in Texas. For one thing, instead of Mexican or Spanish style rice, they served Cole slaw. With Mexican food, YUK!
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Another thing the phony Mexican restaurants serve up here in Canada is Kidney beans instead of Pinto beans, and Jalapenos instead of Green Chilies. I have not had good Mexican style food since I lived in New Mexico. Every corner had a greasy spoon or a high class restaurant that all had one thing in common. Their food was authentic and it was good. I did find some decent food in Montana, in Great Falls. And BIG NO - Taco Bell is not a Mexican fine dining establishment. Oh, and I have had reasonable Mexican food in Cheyenne, Wyoming - Colorado Springs, Colorado - Wichita, Kansas - a couple of places in Oklahoma - lots of places in Texas and in Arizona as well as California. I do have to say tho that the best ever, anywhere, anytime has always been New Mexico, or Old Mexico.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

I live in a town that boasts "The Best 23 Miles of Mexican Food", and it was recognized by UNESCO as a City of Gastronomy.

However, there's a place about an hour's ride away in a small town north of me...mmmmmm!

La Casita - Mammoth, AZ

They have another location in Globe, AZ as well as Show Low, AZ

So, looking for *real* Mexican food? C'mon down!

Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! That looks real good. I'll keep them on the list for the next time I'm down that way. They probably wouldn't deliver way up here, would they?

I like to tell people here in Minnesota that I know of a local Mexican restaurant that is so authentic that you don't dare drink the water !
I do frequent a very small local Mexican restaurant that is not owned, nor staffed by any Hispanic persons at all. They have a large menu that is prepared quickly... How do they do that in such a small place... I don't even want to ask... I suspect there's a microwave involved.
But the prices are very low, the owner/staff are very friendly, and I actually love the food they serve. Happy customer.
