Not again - attempted murder of motorcyclist
I can't believe this has happened again. At least they have the perpetrator - held in jail with 17 charges, including attempted first degree murder:

Wish they could weld the cell shut and just keep him in there.

Re: Not again - attempted murder of motorcyclist
Charges include attempted murder, and "Alberto Mota faces child abuse charges because his 12-year-old daughter was in the truck with him at the time of the crash, Burt said. At the time of the crash, Mota was out on bond for a second-degree assault charge stemming from a 2018 incident. He previously pleaded guilty to a separate misdemeanor menacing charge in 2013."

Let him fry. Intentional and drove off. Heartless totally apathetic worthless human being, deserves the maximum sentence and more....honestly guys like this make the death penalty appealing, I support the death penalty...for him he ought to be strapped to a chair and run over with a steam roller in granny gear.

Re: Not again - attempted murder of motorcyclist
Videos like that are always hard to watch. But what inevitably makes me more sad is to see people's responses online.
That motorcyclist is a gem. What an amazing attitude in response to being wronged so badly.
I hope the truck driver receives justice and someday comes to terms with how terrible his actions here were.

So glad to see that the rider pulled through, will heal, and wants to ride again. Also glad that the driver is behind bars with lots and lots of serious charges. Sad there are people like that in the world that are willing to hurt others for no apparent reason.

The driver of the truck has been charged with attempted first-degree murder: https://www.9news.com/article/news/loca ... ffaa86fe4dWildwilly018 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:31 pm That's just crazy. Has there been anymore info about this put out.

Glad he got all the charges. Now to make them stick. Why draw attention to yourself in any way when you are driving suspended. He obviously has a temperament and self control issue. And do this in front of your child.

Re: Not again - attempted murder of motorcyclist
This idiot deserves the attempted murder charges because it was intentional.
However...According to an arrest affidavit for Mota from the CSP, prior to the crash, there was a road rage incident between the motorcyclists and Mota. During that incident, according to witnesses, the motorcyclists almost hit Mota's truck while changing lanes. One of the motorcyclists also admitted to "flipping off" Mota, which was supported by a witness statement.
Several witnesses also said the motorcyclists were driving "aggressively and unsafe," the affidavit says. However, it was also noted that prior to the crash, no one reported their behavior.
Flipping off a guy in a truck while riding a motorcycle is not something I would recommend.

Re: Not again - attempted murder of motorcyclist
The rider didn't deserve what he got, but he wasn't as innocent as he tries to make himself look.
The initial aggressive action was by the motorcycle riders, over a several-mile distance. They did such things as boxing the truck in and slowing, riding close to his door while revving engines, shouting comments at the driver's young daughter, etc.
In other words, they were Riding While Scumbag, with additional penalty for Dumbass in a No-Dumbass Zone because they didn't realize that they were angering a guy with anger management issues.
It would not surprise me if Mota's attorney puts up a self-defense assertion, and actually might succeed, if the motorcycle group were acting to keep him from getting away from them.
THIS is why I tell people that if you discover that you're riding with idiots, ride somewhere else.
