Many Thanks!!

Post by gamartin »

I need to post this, because I am about ready to burst.
Since 2016, my GL1100 and I have been on short jaunts to work and around our area, due to cancer treatments I started then. After 4.5 years, 75 chemo treatments,
I was told that the oncologist cannot find one cancer cell in my body at this point on a uncurable cancer!!!
Now to work on getting my immune system and strength back so I can do some big time riding.
Bucket list is to ride around Lake Michigan this summer. Have a wonderful day! Spring is coming 🙂
Thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through this forum and reading of trips and other stuff. This is the best forum for Goldwings!!

Great news, you are truly blessed!
As a two-time thyroid cancer survivor, I can relate to your recovery.

I miss my 82, but hope you enjoy yours for many miles and smiles.

I rode my 93 from NC to Saginaw, then up over the Mackinaw Bridge into Canada.
We rode around Lake Huron and came back south at Watertown, spent a night in Syracuse then headed back home.
Did about 2600 miles in 5 days of glorious summer riding. Might have been in 2016, the trips tend to run together through all the years, lol.
That last day from Syracuse was fun, stopped in Philly and did the cheesesteak challenge at Pat's and Gino's, dropped off my brother and carried on back to NC (27909).
When all else fails, RTFM!

I'm new to your situation, but have seen it a number of times over the years. Kudos to you and yours for sticking it out and reaping the rewards. Medicine can't do it all, and guts and gratitude pick up where science leaves off. Best wishes on your ride.

Incredible.....it takes someone like you for people like me to appreciate the fact that - so far - I didn't have any health issues. Should you ever make it to Thailand, let me know. We have beautiful mountains and I have a Goldwing and a Valkyrie to enjoy them.

All the best and may your good health be permanent.

Congratulations! I have had two bouts of kidney cancer in the past four years so I can relate. Lost one kidney, but so far, so good. I hope your trip is fabulous and the weather and winds fair. All the best!

You've stayed the course, congratulations to You! I've also been seriously ill many times, bounced back from those medical conditions, and I'm once again riding at the young age of 70. A person's spirit and will frequently improve and even cure serious medical conditions, and you're the proof of it ! Again, congrats !

Congratulations! I can identify with that, as I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016, and that concern began 5 years ago, today. No cancer free declarations for me, but I have had over one year of negative scans and am on and off (presently off) chemo, because of concern with tumor marker in blood. Anyway, I generally feel great and now refurbishing my 2nd ‘76 GL1000. Great to share happy news with you, and thanks for posting. We are both fortunate and thankful!

Congrats on beating cancer. I had a bout with Bladder Cancer after I had a liver replacement. Went through Chemo and been fine for 9 years. Get out there and ride and enjoy.
