Liquidating the parts store - FREE!

Post by WingAdmin »

Eight years ago, I bought a huge lot of new and used Goldwing parts. I figured it would be great to offer these parts for sale on the web site. You've been able to see them for sale in the New and Used Parts Store on the GoldwingDocs site ever since.

The parts were about 35% GL1500, 60% GL1800, and maybe 5% GL1000/GL1100/GL1200. Some of them were brand new, unopened, new "old stock" items.

I spent almost two years sorting through the parts, photographing, cataloging over 1,000 of the parts and putting them on the web site to sell. Even then, I had only gotten through maybe half of the parts that I had on hand. That's right - eight years later, I still have tons of boxes and bins full of parts - I don't even know what else I have!

I was right: people did want these parts. I made thousands of dollars selling these old parts online. I loved that I could help people fix their damaged Goldwings.

But I've had to admit to myself that I simply do not (and will not) ever have the time to sort through and catalog the rest of the parts that I have, and I desperately need the space that the parts are taking up in my home.

So it's time for the parts to go. If I were to make a guess, I would say the retail value of the parts that I have (that I know that I have - not including the boxes that I never even opened!) is between $10,000 and $20,000.

I am willing to GIVE THEM AWAY for free, to anyone who cares to arrange transport. You would need a small box truck to take it all. If they were to be palletized, I would estimate there to be roughly 6 wrapped pallets of parts.

You can see a subset of the parts in the images below. I've got many more in bins and boxes elsewhere around the house. In addition to the parts currently listed in the store, I have an entire GL1100 engine including carburetors, mufflers, brake calipers and levers, lots of bodywork (trunks, saddlebags, all the little various pieces in various colors) from GL1500's and GL1800's, frame parts, several GL1800 swingarms and final drives, wheels, LOTS of electrical stuff, quite a bit of OEM and aftermarket parts, some still sealed in original packaging, and as I said, many large boxes of parts that I've never even opened!

If you or anyone you know might be interested in these parts, please let me know. I really need the space in my home, but I cannot bring myself to send all these valuable parts to the dump - someone must have a parts recycling business of some kind who would be willing to take them on. For those interested, I am located in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

I am in Youngstown, I have a March ‘76 GL1000 # 1000-2929. I saw this post, and have a Lot of spare time. Would be honored to take the parts off your hands. Not so thrilled about cataloging, but would make sense. My name is Mason Welch, 352-286-6279, if you’d like to discuss

Easy cataloguing: As you take the parts out of the truck, pile them based on major category (Tupperware, electrical, drive train), then when everything is piled up, attack one pile at a time, making smaller piles (fairing, trim, saddleboxes, etc). By the time you have found a place for everything, you'll know what you have and where to find it.

The person who was going to pick them up this weekend has had to bow out as he was unable to secure use of a trailer. If anyone is still interested, the parts are still available!

I've now had two people who said they wanted the parts - so I told other interested parties that they were going to be taken, and subsequently both of those people bowed out and decided not to take them.

So...they are still available. I'd like to get them out of here sooner rather than later. Thanks everyone!

Alright, I've had quite a few people ask about this once again, and I do have to apologize - I had several people send me PM's here on the site, and was talking with them...but not to those who answered on this thread.

If possible, I wouldn't mind doing it this weekend. Anyone up to the task?
