New Years plans or resolutions?

Post by WingAdmin »

Anyone have some plans or resolutions that they would like to share publicly, in order to get them out there into the world? Anything is OK, not necessarily motorcycle related!

I plan to try to release a lot more music than I did in 2022, which was kind of a dire year. I also plan (resolve?) to get the new version of the GoldwingDocs web site finished and live!

Hoping to finally take that out west trip on the wing with another couple. We’ve been planning it since 2018. Weddings, the birth of new grandkids, replacement knees, the impact of Covid on fuel & hotel prices along with accessibility to national parks, and life in general has gotten in the way! 2023 should be the year!!

1. Give my 83 1100 a performance boost by getting down to 170lbs 🤣

2. I have two additional 83's in my little bone yard that I plan on building into one naked, slightly modified cafe. Nothing too radical, I grew up building cafe bikes from Kawasaki triples & RD's, guess I'm wanting to re-live my teenage years 🙄👴. Can't afford a W or Guzzi 😞.

3 Contemplating giving up beer, but that might be a resolution not easily kept.

I was planning on a trip out west to visit a cousin in Oregon, but in August I discovered I had colon cancer, which put a screaming halt to any and all plans, hopefully I had my last chemo treatment the day after Christmas. I’m hoping my test will show that I don’t have any cancerous cells, lingering within my body, in 2023 I’m planning on some trips to makeup for lost time

Not really Goldwing related..but is Motorcycle related. We have just made plans to do a 10 day, self guided motorcycle tour of Portugal & Spain. Back it 2018 we did a 10 day tour of Portugal from Lisbon to Porto in a very large loop. We loved the trip so much we have decided to take another tour of the area, but this time dropping into Spain! Going to be a great trip. The tour group is MotoXplorers (https://www.motoxplorers.com/). They provide the motorcycles (BMW 1250GS), all accommodations, GPS with tour route and sights preprogramed.

New year's Resolution is to fit:
  • Madstad screen (in transit)
  • Fork brace and progressive springs (need to buy)
  • shifter brace (already have)
  • LED cornering bulbs and headlight bulbs (already have)
  • New UJ boot (Need to buy)
And to change final drive oil, lube splines, and then normal oil/filter service.
Measure twice, cut once.

Mine is to get a Goldwing. I've been looking at youtube allot and trying to get educated on all of them.
Scott I watch your videos too and really like the info you put out there.
Im 5.7 and 160# so I hope I dont have too much of an issue when I get mine. ( I will have to hold on tight so I don't blow off the bike) :-) :D
Thank you,

I'm also 5' 7" with 30" inseam. I've lowered my 83 1100 an inch and got a cut down seat from ebay. I can barely flat foot when stopped, important when loaded down with gear to feel stable. Seat height is one issue, the other, on a boxer, is the width of the engine when stopped. I've tried a 1996 Wing. No thanks! I still like to get stupid in the twisties.
