Hard to believe

Post by offcenter »

As I often do on Thursday, I went to the local Bike Night near here this evening.
There is a guy with a dark blue 2000 Goldwing who comes
periodically. The bike only has 18,000 miles on it since new.
Tonight, a new guy showed up. He pulled in and parked right next
to the other guy, riding a beautiful snow white 1996 Goldwing...
...with only 14,000 miles on it!
Who buys something as expensive as this and barely uses
it?? The newcomer tonight had 14,000 miles on a 27 year
old bike!!! Amazing!!
Even more amazing that the two of them would end up
parked next to each other.
So there they were, a pair of nearly NEW GL-1500
Goldwings, both of them SE models!!
I took pictures, but something glitched with my camera
and nothing came out. Damn

George in Jersey.

Funny they Evan run and haven’t died from sitting. Sure you can start and warm them up but there is no substitute for a good assortment of bugs (trophies) stuck on the windshield. Maybe running aviation fuel.

I met a guy on his 1992 4-5 years ago in San Diego area, he was the original owner and had 2,300 miles on it.
After he bought it his wife started having kids, 10 kids later with 3 jobs going to afford the family, he only got to ride it once a week to the store..... but still ran great. No accessories were ever added either.

Congrats. Yes there are lots that haven't been riden much because of riders getting scared of the weight in their aging years after buying a new one.
Replace those tires if you want to stay upright in the corners.....or you may be in for a slide instead of a ride!

It is the age of the tires! 5 years is when rubber hardens and gets slippery instead of gripping the road. Use at your own peril......
Can you ride on old rubber? Yes. But......
