The threads under the cap are about 3/4 inch, maybe a little less.

(approx)
1-1/2 inch wide cap.
From under cap to bottom of 'bolt', 3/4 inch.

Thank you very much. Do you happen to know if both styles are the same?

I have one set that uses a 17mm allen key out of an unknown model. And another set on my 96 Aspy that has a 24mm hex nut.

Might as well make the tool to handle anything. Thanks

I've taken just one apart, 1991 Interstate. The forks are slightly smaller in diam., but close enough for your tool.
I was skimming through other fork bolts (cap) and noticed some are (approx) 1.5" deep. Those are not Goldwing models.

I made the tool like the honda tool. It has that slot. I made it for my 41mm forks. But I can tighten it a little more. I've also heard of guys using a strip of inner tube on smaller forks.

Do you happen to know the diameter of the smaller fork?

It's only a couple mm., even number is all I remember. 28mm???
I found this out when picking up used forks. Thought all 1500's were the same size. NOPE.

Oh oh. Just thought of something.

I built the tool based on a set of unknown model forks. They have the 17mm allen like your picture. They were in my 89, but not original. I made the tool 41mm,,,, I think.

I wonder if my 96 aspey forks are going to be bigger? :?

I believe the 1500's are just 2 sizes. If not they're just a few mm apart.
28mm to 32mm, memory is unfogging... a little.

zzz time. You'll get it working.
