All depends on what you are trying to protect from.
If you want to protect from mice, I recommend a guard cat.

Chemical protection?
I once used 'Armor All' looks great shiny but slippery.
I use hair conditioner, has lanolin which is good for vinyl & leather.
Still slightly slippery but I don't slide around.
Rain Cover?
I've discovered hanging apparel dust covers, mostly used for long term dust protection.
I get the waterproof one and pliable in cold weather.
Behind the passenger seat, the little fold-down is perfect storage.
I merely wrap the edges under the seat to thwart the wind. I sometimes use 2 small bungee's.
